So if during deployment and my warlord is on the table. And it is grand strategist.
I spend 3cp and to outfit Idk uhh shield captains with 2 relics i could roll to see if i get my 3cp back then.

Or if i decided I really want that relic of cadia and use that stratagem. And can roll to see if i get that back. Which seems to be considered list tailoring by some.

Because before battle is before the first battle round. Which includes deployment.

Got it.

on the other hand Nobz they decided it was in the best interest of ork society that they "Go Green" as such they specifically modified their warbikes to not make giant smoke, dust, grit, clouds. Instead they are all about driving with clean air, one might say their bikes Gak out rainbows.

A convention in many parts is picking relics before deployment even begins, so check with your opponent. Tournaments certainly require them picked before deployment, and lots of people play it that way in friendly games too. Check ahead of setting up so you don't get into a pre-game argument!

Actually the entry of relics says you write down any relics your charictors have on your roster. Indicating that relics are part of list building. Hence you can't add them during deployment as that would be chaning your list.

New scenario.

My opponent says he playing chaos. So i set up my warlord with grand strategist. Then before deployment is finished i spend a command point to buy Relic of Cadia which was conveniently located in a random officers pocket.

So i get a chance to get my command point back.
I don't think it works like that. The stratagem says "Use this Stratagem before the battle."

Deployment isn't part of the turn structure but very much part of the battle.

So is the before battle before deployment but after finding out what opponent/army/exact army list you are playing against or before even that?

GW rules! Anybody insisting on playing RAW only is kidding themselves. GW can't write rules to allow playing RAW.

Ah nice catch, I'd missed that. So they must be done during mustering your army.

Perfect. Thank you.

Seems after browsing endlessly I did not read the second paragraph of most entries.

Problem solved.
