Microsoft Edge can just open them out of the box. Otherwise, try the Readium plug-in for Chrome.

Yeah. They're definitely not hard to open. They may just require you to change your reader. The standard epub3 files they sell open fine for me in any number of apps.

While people insist on braying about how awful it is, the alternative is worse (i.e. stuck with your rules for 4-5 years).

You need:

1) Your army's Codex.
2) Download your army's latest FAQ/Errata from the Warhammer Community site (in their FAQ/Errata section, search by game and army)
3) Borrow a copy of Chapter Approved and scribble down any relevant points changes (my group of 10 people...we have one copy of Chapter Approved). The rest of the content in the book is not necessary.

There have been a handful of points changes outside of this structure, mainly in the Big FAQ 1 from March of this year - where they instituted a few "emergency" points changes.

There are a handful of instances where models with rules previously have been removed from current Codices because they no longer have an actual model available for purchase. These units are found in the initial Indexes which were released with the game launch. Most of this information and updated points is available in 3rd party army-building software like Battlescribe, etc. However that is use-submitted information so you're risking the occasional discrepency or error. Another good option is to create your own cheat sheet where you can edit points costs and rules changes for your army, a simple laminated sheet or two that you take with you. I do these for my army so I bring my codex if people want to view an entry, but other than that I play off of two laminated sheets which contain all the rules for all of my units, weapons, stratagems, spells, etc.

So locked down to Windows Spyware 10 instead. Lovely. I am not going to run a Virtual Machine just to read my books.

Dude... it works on just about anything that supports epub3. As with everything, you're being purposefully combative. What system are you using? If you're using something obscure and non-mainstream, you can't be upset that companies aren't catering to you.

Well, considering the way they encrypt the fonts is broken out the gate with Readium, Azardi makes it impossible to quickly flick between pages, and I don't want Microsoft Spyware on my PC, what do you suggest I use to read my books?

Sounds like you'd be happiest with a physical book. Easy to switch pages, works with every set of hands and doesn't come with any software.

Try Calibre.
https://calibre-ebook.com/download
It works on IOS for the children, Windows for the adults, Linux for the mutants, and even runs off a flash drive for the BCBs for when the 1984 sky is falling.
It'll handle epubs, mobis, and whatnot. It has a reader and you can convert them all to PDFs if you'd like.

I just use battlescribe for all this and don't worry about it at all.

You say that like I haven't tried Calibre and literally every other option. There is no way to zoom, and when I opened a github ticket they basically told me that Fixed Layout ePub 3 is not supported. You can't use it to convert the epubs because of font encryption.

Agreed. Calibre is a generally good app that is terrible for fixed layout ePub3. It's a bad choice for GW's ePubs.

So you're trying to tell me that you run an unix system, but can't get it to open an epub3 file?

Wow, that explains so much about you.

I have ten codices in epub3 with zero font problems open in Readium right now. As usual, the problem seems to be sitting in front of your PC.

I can open the epubs, they are just not realistically usable.

Meanwhile, PDFs work literally everywhere at any time.

Outside of you, no one seems to be failing to use epubs. Again, not surprised, since you also seem to be also failing to use a whole bunch of easily understandable rules.
I was assuming you had technical difficulties and suggested the easiest way out - a browser available on the vast majority of PCs in the world and a plug-in for the most used browser in the world (also works for other chromium-based browsers since you are so afraid of "spyware"").
I failed to realize that you were just trying to be difficult for no reason whatsoever.

Meanwhile, PDFs work literally everywhere at any time.

Hahahaha
Just try opening a PDF with a non-embedded font that's not available on your machine.

The only virtue of pdfs is that decent readers are wildly available.

Yes, working flawlessly, how could I be so blind! /s

Also, Readium doesn't allow me to zoom with the scroll wheel, forcing a manual entry of a zoom level, which in my opinion is unusable.

Anyway, this thread has gone off the rails, I'll leave it at that.
