Man, if only we had a community site that kept all of the FAQ's in some handy location for ease of perusal...

Oh, wait...

https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/

Literally has everything that's come out and mentions the dates that they were updated. Every codex, the big FAQ, even other things like Necromunda, Forgebane, and the Indexes. Not sure if something's been updated? Bookmark this page, check the dates. If the last time you played a game was December of last year, then yeah, you might be a little out of date. No problem, just skim the FAQ, ask questions on community sites, forums, or discord channels for clarifications, and boom, you're back in the game.

I'm pretty thrilled that GW is treating this game like the living, breathing monster that it is. Having one meta dominate for 3+ years was no fun. Remember when Grey Knights first came out? Remember Leafblower? That crap stuck around for a long time, too long. The entire time that IG Leafblower was around, every time a Codex came out there were a hundred articles and forum topics that read: "IS THIS THE END OF THE LEAFBLOWER??" Only for everyone to conclude: No, Leafblower is still around.

What we have now is far superior. I'd rather people change their lists up, have new strategies, react to points changes, and make more interesting lists, than try to find the one or two netlists that dominate for 2-3 years and only buy those models. It got real old playing against the same lists year after year.

Nay I say..the rules changes and FAQ feel like someone running around stomping on fires, only to watch others spring up. The fact that it is happening faster isn't better but it does keep the competition field well fed. As someone who grew up playing board games like Tactis my disappointment with 8th is pretty high. I hope the wheel continues to turn and the stink pile that 8th is gets brushed off for something better. AT could be that game, Necromunda could have been that game, and may still become that game. The rate of change makes it feel like MTG, or for a miniatures point of view MageKnight. Remember MageKnight? That is what 40k is becoming.

There are currently 33 separate WH40K PDFs on that page. Why not just have it on a single website/app that can be searched and filtered by Rule/FAQ/Errata/Book/Faction? Even if you only use 2 codexes and the BRB for your games you still need to reference a PDF for each, plus CA and it's PDF, and the Big FAQ. That's 9 separate documents for a 2 faction game! And it's only going to increase each year with more Big FAQ and CA releases. Madness.

I'd happily buy CA each year if it collected together all the beta rule changes from the preceding year, and GW moved from FAQ/Errata PDFs to a single website/app.

Roll on 9th edition only another 18-24 months of 8th edition to go .
Hopefully it's actually a good rule set
