I think he is referring to the fact that CSM Daemon Princes don't get DR.

Basically imo the OP is trying to use a rules loop hole to gain an advantage, that to goes against the spirit of the game and the intent of the directions on which datasheet to use. That rule was clearly intended to allow people to use models/units that weren’t in the updated codex so that older models weren’t invalidated.

In codex thousand sons. The daemon prince of tzeentch does not have access to a warp bolter. The index version does get access. So i have to use the index right? Do i still benefit from tsons stuff and psychic tables?

Kind of a different topic, but war gear is not part of the decision for what datasheet you use for your model.

You would pick the appropriate datasheet from one of the four codices and then use the Warpbolter option from the index as per leftmost result of the flowchart.

Under no circumstances can you pick the datasheet from the index.
