That's how competitive Necrons look if you aren't using Destroyers, Wraiths, or Immortals. Ghetto Celestine is pretty popular.

I like the English, Swiss, Belgum and Finnish teams and since I'm posting on the 4th I think I have to give a vote for the good 'ole USA!!!!

Now I have no idea about any of the players on those teams (outside the US).

I'm curious how that anti-horde marine list works out (repulsors and aggressors seem like a hard counter to orcs which there are plenty of). Looks like knights are good at what they do, eldar/DE are straight OP (is any team not running 3x ravagers?) and I've hated wraithfighters for a while now, tau has some good units, IG seems to be the chicken stock for all imperium soup lists, BA captian slammy is DE ravager level of broken it appears.

I really hope there are lots of battle-reports write ups. The lists are pretty similar for the most part (with just a couple outliers) so it will be very interesting to see how this thing shakes out.

We will be live streaming the event, trying to setup a few tables but if not, the stream will be setup for at least 1 table.

Wow not a single GK model, not even as ally.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

One of the top ATC teams is using this exact list this year.

Huh... looking at names of personnel involved now, that's very interesting.

Put three Tesseract Vaults in the opponent's face with the Deceiver turn one and hope they can't deal with it. I think the Vault players will be disappointed; the hype revolves around dishing out buckets of mortal wounds, but c'tan powers are designed in a way that they are best targeted at hordes of models (IE, not what you usually attack with mortal wounds and what vaults are already pretty good at dealing with anyways with their tesla spheres). I think it's ultimately inferior to Ahriman's cabal in terms of mortal wound centered strategies.

Remember, its a team tournament with teams pairing off lists against eachother. There is a measure of control in what these Necron lists will face.

How do you play the destroyer Lord, ooz up and hit stuff that makes a break for it or exposed vehicles?

I only counted to around page 80 but at that point I was around 3 pure Marines and 1 pure Sisters... Look out SM you will be getting the Sisters treatment soon! lol

Space marines are pretty underwhelming. After getting nerfed numerous times (Flyer nerf, spam nerf and guiliman points increase) has hurt marines. They are now at best, average at everything, master of nothing.

They are okay in soup lists as a battalion - I prefer Ultramarines but Ravenguard are good too.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

Agreed, they are good, but as a standalone they are very one dimensional, which makes it difficult to justify taking against all the extreme builds seen at the ETC.

The Destroyer Lord in that list is affectionately referred to as "Ghetto Celestine" by Necron players; he's not nearly as lethal as she is because warscythes kinda suck in 8th, but he's about as durable given that he can get back up twice. He's mostly a nuisance, but he's better than the other HQ options because Overlords, Lords, and Crypteks do basically nothing if they don't have infantry to buff.

Edit: I just realized you're torblind and already know all of this. I should probably read the username on posts more often.

Thanks for reply, and np, and it's always nice to hear what others know (and by extension what they don't know!) and how well that resonates with oneself.

I was thinking more along the lines what targets would you aim for, how do you avoid enemies pulling out of CC and gunning him down. As you say, the warscythe isn't the vehicle killer it used to be, but perhaps tie up Leman Russes to keep them from shooting? He could weather the overwatch, die a couple of times, and grow back his wounds at twice the rate.
