I came here because of the word "nostalgia" and being a collector of Rogue Trader era metal miniatures, your army is truly a sight to behold ...
While i do have a soft spot in my heart for one of the first founding chapters with an epic history of fighting bugs, the boys from Ultramar are truly one of the coolest armies to collect and paint
LIKE IT WAS ... ULTRA

I really love the sculpt of that 3rd ed. captain with storm bolter and power sword, it was one of the first minis that I ever owned/painted! I've got plans to recreate him with modern plastic bits, along with the veteran sergeant and the standard bearer that were included in the command squad.

Long time, no space marine.
So two house moves and a lot of faffing later, the project is back up and running! I'm making a bit of effort to try and make some support elements for the infantry I already have painted.
First up, the devastator squad:
They will all eventually have the flame effects on the barrels, but my fine detail brush has given up the ghost. I swear paint brushes were much better when I was younger, but maybe thats me making excuses for my skill fade...
Metal dreadnought:
This thing weighs a ton and can be used as a personal defence weapon in case of late night burglating individuals. I managed to source some 50mm Square bases as it just didn't feel right putting them on a round base. I was rummaging around and found another ebay rescue dreadnought and started to assemble it. I then remembered why it had languished in bits for so long...
The previous owner had decided to lop off the weapon. This meant only one thing, I had to rummage around and glue the first weapon I found in its place.
A liberal amount of sawing as well as brute force and ignorance later...
Thats all for now folks, I'm working on a couple of preds now so will post when they are looking a bit more presentable.

Don’t forget the main duty of old metal dreadnoughts: Enforcing table-side justice. The fabled dreadsock. When there is one of these guys on the table, TFGs will run in fear of their lives.
Nice repair work with the plasma cannon. One of these days I need to put my old metal dread on a base. 50mm square could be good for nostalgia...

I've been having the same 3rd Ed nostalgia recently, so I've been buying up old codexes on ebay, ones that I foolishly sold in many years ago. But i'm sure I'll start getting into the old models again soon...

What a great trip down memory lane. This is fantastic. The bright colors really capture the classic feel of late 90s 40k.
