Well, I could follow the action during the punch ups, so that’s a massive leg up on the previous efforts.

That they also resemble their G1 characters is another plus.

If it gets at least middling reviews, I could part with money for this,

I was jazzed, pardon the pun, until the new trailer showed the military after them - AGAIN.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

It doesn't matter how many times the Transformers save the world - the US army must justify its obscene spending any way it can and hunting giant robots is the path they've taken!

Dude, it's 2018...there is no enemy other than the government, the CIA, the ex-CIA government employees, the terrorists infiltrating the CIA and the government. The terrorist infiltrating the terrorists who infiltrate the CIA who infiltrate the government. It's not kosher to have a genuinely evil bad guy (besides the Chinese market is so big they probably love seeing the "big bad US government" as the primary villain in 90% of action movies in the past 10 years). Get with the times!

Fun fact: The US military's spending is on par with the every other major first world nation. It's also 1/3rd of the percentage GDP that Eritrea spends on its military...but sure...we're evil because we have money?

OF course if there are retail physical copies out there the activation codes will still work (long as they are not registered to another user); and if you bought them on steam already you can still download and play. There's just no page or means to buy them in steam again.

It's a deathtrap for things like movie-tie-in games and also often hits sports and racing games as well. Just like how the Battle for Middle Earth games are not sold new anywhere and yet if you can get a retail copy you can still play.

Looked to me like Decepticons lying to them to get them to find Bumblebee for them.

Apparently this is having a rather... mixed response on the Transformers forum I frequent. Quite a few of the more hardcore Bay fans are NOT happy that boxy garbage is showing up in their movies. RUINED FOREVER, essentially.

All in all, reboot/soft reboot/prequel or not, this reveal may be the most polarizing thing to happen to the fandom in a while.

1984: The Transformers launches in the US, in toy, comic and cartoon formats, forever ruining Transformers.

No but seriously. Transformers fans are the masters of this trope. They have cried doom over literally every piece of transformers media to come out since the dawn of the internet.

I'm really looking forward to this for 2 reasons;

1 - While this is Travis Knight's live action debut, he was a director and animator on Kubo and the Two Strings, which was visually stunning
2 - Having a female writer in Christina Hodson means (hopefully) no more weirdly over-sexualised female characters. The Romeo & Juliet law stuff in Age of Extinction was just creepy and unneeded

Kubo is one of my favorite movies in the last year or two.

Yeah, I'm REALLY hoping the "humor" from Bay's side is completely gone.

Curb stomping in the Eye of Terror!

Saw the expanded trailer when I saw Venom tonight.

The action scene doesn't seems "Bayafied" if you get my drift and all the transformers are the 80's Hasbro models... looks very promising.

Well, now they know how the rest of us have felt since the first Bayformer movie came out.

I’m more interested now I’ve seen the retro style on the other transformers. I’ve only seen the first transformers film and some of the one with the Dinobots, well I watched half of that and never saw a dinobot but they were on the poster.

Saw it. Liked it. Better than the previous movies. Lots of cool throwbacks in the designs. Still kind of human centric, with the beginning being robots, the meat in the middle being human, and then more robot at the end but with vital human interplay. Human gets better character arc/growth. Bee is mostly the same thruout. Overly unfavorable to the military. They seemed way to aggressive right from the get go. Main dude was immediately shown to be an arse. Overall entertaining though.

Can you confirm if this is now a full reboot to the other live action movies?

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I assumed it was a prequel given the trailers show things like the Hoover Dam and other things that feel like they're important to the other movies. In any case, everything I've seen feels like a transformers movie I would have actually wanted to see back when the idea was exciting and not.... desecrated.

It’s starts on Cybertron, Autobots are losing, Optimus sends Bee to earth to set up a secret forward base while he gathers their remaining forces from other places to meet him there later. A Decepticon manages to follow Bee to earth. Hyjinks ensue. Similar base plot, but definitely not a prequel.

I went today before it was out of the theatres and had pretty low expectations but was surprised at how much I actually liked it. I'm not a fan of the Bay movies, with the helicopter airbase attack being the only scene I enjoyed in those. It's set in 1987 and nails the 80's vibe really well and the kids feel like normal kids having an odd alien adventure and not some horribly written adult stereotype version of kids. Loved the old generation 1 look for the characters and plenty of nods to the TV show. Has some decent humor but nothing too over the top like Bay's version. IMO it's in a similar vein as Stranger Things and I thought it was fairly well done for being an lighthearted action movie that feels very inspired by the cartoon series. Very glad they left Bay's direction out even though Bay and Spielberg are listed as producers.

Military is after them trope is there but it's because it's set as being first contact with earth and they are lied to about who the bad guys actually are.

For “first contact” the military didn’t handle it well at all.

Much better than all the previous movies as less is definitely more, and caters to the target audience - the little kid inside all of us who loves saturday morning cartoons and super-awesome toys.

The 80s setting was about right and the young lass in the movie was as convincing a hero as any from that era - her hat was priceless!

Bubblebee was one of my least favourite TF characters but in this movie he is very likeable, and has a geninue friendship with the girl( I think her name was Charlie, or something like that ).

The action scenes are fewer this time round but thats a good thing. With three villians to contend with, it was easier to follow the action and to invest in their characters - even though one exits early he does leave his mark.

If this is the new direction of the franchise then bring it on!

***Oh, just to confirm that Bumblebee is smutt and foul-language free. About as heavy as watching The Karate Kid.
