Yeah it's cool a Dread can cast Astral Aim on itself, but it seems like something all Purgator squads should do in the first place.
This also alleviates the issue of the units being samey, and starts giving defined roles to everyone.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Then the Generic HQ dudes outside the Lirbarian can just have a somewhat limited Smite but have more access to chances to cast powers. Librarians get regular Smite. The world is happy.
I agree, go with bespoke squad powers instead of actual psyker abilities. then let sanatic exist for actual psykers (so librarians can suddenly employ all the powers on differant units thus allowing some flex) and a second disipline, maybe even just the Librarius disipline
I'm glad someone agrees! Personally I was thinking along the lines of:
1. Strikes and Interceptors get Warp Quake, which would act like how the new Marine infiltrators have their denial area.
2. Terminators get Holocaust and it's functionally extra hits in melee or they get an anti-charge Power of some kind
3. Paladins instead gain a power to increase their charge odds
4. Purifiers get their old Nova back but at 6" so they aren't busted
5. Dreads either get their own power or are some of the select few to pick powers
Of course I'd rather the powers be tools rather than fully offensive, which is why I laid it out the way I did.

I like the "Squads get unique powers" idea.
I'm not a fan of the name you've given the Terminator power. I'm aware that the word has a long etymology, but at the same time... Tact.

That was the actual name of the power.

And... Your point? I'm just saying connotations exist. And in this case, the connotations ain't very pretty. (Kinda appropriate, for the Imperium of Man, but still.) Edit: Put another way, this is the Proposed Rules forum. It's SPECIFICALLY about making stuff better than GW did, ideally. Why can't we apply that to naming too?

Well if you have a better name I'm all ears for it. I don't care terribly about the names anyway.

"Inferno" would be a rough equivalent without the problematic history. "Fireburst" is a D&D spell with a similar function.

Weirdly enough, holocaust was kinda fitting given that the grey knights have effectively partaken in the genocide of innocents when the taint of chaos has been deemed to have spread too far.
Maybe the spell could be called Cataclysm or Flames of Perdition?

Cataclysm is cool.
Flames of Perdition is too, but feels better for a different power than extra attacks in melee.
