Subject: Astartes Bolter Upgrades

If my math is correct, three AP - bolt shots are better or equal than two AP -1 bolts shots against any target that doesn't have 2+ save, and even then applying the extra AP doctrine makes them equal. So does this mean that the auto bolter will be the new optimal choice? (A tad annoying as most of my guys are built with the normal ones, but the auto is the best looking one, so I really cant begrudge it becoming better.)

rememebr the autobolt rifle has a points cost that could add up.

it does. before the new codex, the autobolt rifle and stalker bolt rifle where, at best side grades but they had a cost. I could have made an arguement for taking them if the points cost was equal, (the standard rifle would have been best mind you, just situationally the other guns ahd some uses) but to have guns that are only situationally better, and often worse outside of those rare situations? wasn't worth it

Why even bother taking a couple assassins now that Eliminators do the job better? I want to see the math on how a squad of Eliminators do vs a Vindy, against a strong HQ like say Abbadon.

I haven't done any mathhammer on this yet, but I'm not immediately seeing the value in paying another 13 points to 'upgrade' from 3 Eliminators to 1 Vindicare.

Eliminators don't cost a CP, can get all the chapter buffs, and psychic abilities. I think there are values to both.
