hopefully they'll FAQ that.. I really don't wanna go back to the 5th edition days of "the rules for X are totally differant because you're using codex A and he's using codex B!"

Allegedly they are fixing stats that way, but I don't always have high hopes.

I won't lie, I bought Vigilus Ablaze and new CSM codex cause I was excited it would make a pure CSM force fun to play!

I feel VERY shafted by the Loyalist marine codex they've brought out, I mean are their tacticals cheaper than our CSM troops choice? and their tactics apply to everything? I don't normally like complaining but I do feel this is handled awfully and it's hard not to feel like a big middle finger to us and a bigger spike tax than ever.

But we got new oblits so I guess people will tell me not to complain.

nah it's a legit complaint. and GW'll hopefully FAQ chaos marine troop prices down to Tac squad prices. barring that, well it's inevitable CA 2019'll do it

They did say in the initial press release that they would drop a .pdf with the rules changes for DA, BA, SW, DW, GK, and CSM at the same time the new Vanilla Marine codex is released. Fingers crossed that includes some points adjustments.

Edit:
So far, lots of calls for the new stuff, mostly for the Invictors and Eliminators.

Not nearly as much for the existing things; Centurions, Drop Pods, Land Raiders, Rhinos, and Redemptors. Not the things I would have expected, so either we're mostly all saturated with existing Marine stuff or the new and inproved rules aren't enough to entice us to expand.

It's a valid complaint, but I suspect the issue was GW having to push thing and move things around in the release schedule after they started to actually listen to the community and especially when ITC BCP were able to give them data to prove certain factions were not performing and that just adding primaris units and doing codex 2.0 wasn't going to help.

It's nice that GW isn't just carrying on with their plan and ignoring the problems, however with this, their is always going to be a faction that is the last before the change of direction.
In this case it was choas, I suspect because the choas codex does bring something to choas soup and hence probably doesn't look to be in as bad a possition to GW as loyalists did.

I would say if your playing pure renegade marines, play them as dark angles successors, everyone knows their half heritics anyway.

For now just one Invictor, one squad of Eliminators for the Las Fusil and one squad of Phobos marines for the new squad type.

I already have most of the other stuff from the shadowspear box set so they're done and dusted for me.

What does all this put on your shopping list? The new stuff is perfectly valid, but the far more interesting question is what existing units do you not have (or just have one of) that are now on your to-buy list and why?

I'm sorry what? Someone is actually building laz fusille eliminators? The sniper rifles got a buff and the laz fusil is worse than a lazcannon in every situation, including in terms of the unit it can come on. If you're taking eliminators, take the sniper rifles. There are far better anti tank units and weapons in SM than half a lazcannon for a little over half the points, on a three man squad.

Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

I know what the averages are, but I'll take a straight D3 over a Dd6 any day of the week. The consistency is just more valuable for how frequently I spike low on damage rolls, and 5 Lasfusiles will out-damage 3 Lascannons anyway.

And that's not considering that LasFusile Eliminators are the cheapest Primaris AT available and the only AT unit that can be Shrouded and a native 1+ save even if you can't babysit them.

Then again, people in this thread have also said they're not impressed by the Suppressors and I have roughly the same reaction. "You don't think that's the best infantry mounted heavy weapon in the whole codex? Lolwut?"

Across the Rubicon

I plan on picking up a box of Infiltrators/Incursors building them as Incursors since I have the Shadowspear Infiltrators. I also plan on getting a box of Eliminators building them with the Las Fusils also because I have the Shadowspear ones already. I haven't completely decided on if I am going to buy one or two Impulsors. I am trying to move to a more Phobos armor based army which I think will have less and less need for transport except the already barred Gravis units. Besides, I am not very good at magnetizing and don't know how easy modeling all the options for it is going to be.

Spikey 17 going down 15 points is pretty huge if they do get that.

I kinda disagree. An eliminator has a 1+ save in cover with 2 wounds. A dev squad with 3 lascannons cost a whole lot more and has much weaker defense. I agree the snipers are also great but the las fussil is REALLY good.

Already got: Start collecting Primaris Space Wolves because it contains exactly what I want to expand my Space Wolves-as-White Scars force.

Shopping list: Probably 2 Invictor suits. Will playtest them this sunday using 2 Wulfen Dreads as proxies.

Since my backlog is ridiculous I'll probably just wait for them to appear in the bargain bundles. I want several squads of each unit. I was painting some of the Shadowspear models yesterday and they are really nice to paint.

Why get the old stuff with an uncertain future first? You e only got so much time to assemble and paint. Get the new stuff first which usually has better rules per point.

maybe because he likes the old stuff better? GW's actions are not those of a company trying to slowly perpare the stage to dump the old stuff, they're the actions of a company whom sees primaris as "in additions"
