One conversion I would have loved to do would be to turn Genestealer Cults Atalan Jackals into Rough Riders. Several things have kept me from pulling the trigger on the idea though. For one, I would have no use at all for the quad bikes that come with the kits, so ultimately that's wasted money perhaps. Also, I'm not sure where I'd source suitable lances for the guys. And their outfits are mostly wrong for Guard, although I could probably find some fluff justification for why they don't match the rest of my Cadian-pattern troops. The final nail in the coffin however is the fact that Rough Riders have become Warhammer Legends and so won't be eligible for tournament play. So alas, while a fun idea, it'll never be a reality, at least for me.

...conversion ideas are a constant issue, held back by my waning interests, lack of money and also modeling experience. todays has been my biggest one though.
Skaven genestealer cults. i was looking to run GSC but as a renegade force (kind of as a shout against all the costs and model issues i have with armies i probably would like more mechanically), but now this appeared and my brains afire with it.. i do have some ideas, but i need more direction to plan it out, plus guts and funding to realize this.
I always wanted to play skaven in Warhammer fantasy, but i never got around to it. telling me with some effort i could praise the great horned rat while also pouncing up on people with wrecked up weaponry and unload into them with warp bullets? YES-YES!!

I have a dream of building a Leviathan. Not the dreadnaught, the mobile command fortress.
I figure it would take two baneblade size tanks just for the four tracks, and then loads of plasticard or scenery buildings for the main body. Its a bit much for me right now...

I have an idea, which I have been harbouring for years now, for a weirdboy stompa. A stompa with a bank of weirdboys in chains, who's close combat weapon is the fist of gork himself, held in place through a portal on the end of the arm. a colossal powerklaw was built for him as an offering to allow them to "borrow" his fist.
I was going to make rules for it as well, with random psychic powers flaring off in all directions, randomised powers when it takes X damage or more due to psychic backlash, guaranteed perils on any psyker within X distance. Obviously, not for use outside of apocalypse games!
Ork Krawla and Airship would be awesome to make, mostly constrained by space, being such a big model!

Space rats sound great. Mantic's Veer-Myn might be a good starting point? They're cheap.

This would require a world where ork superheavies weren't complete garbage, though. I already have too many fun ork models that have to sit on the shelf for lack of usefulness.
Ha! I had the same/similar idea! Thankfully for me, I don't care enough about the efficacy of the list to detract me from building it!
Sadly, I have at least 3-4 other army projects that have priority over starting a silly Ork-tron army.

Similar to mine, only I would love to completely tweak the WarmaHordes Legion of Everblight Archangel into a Dragon for a High Elf Lord. I'm nowhere near confident in my GS skills to make that happen, though.

Most of mine are just time consuming as I'd have to find a TON of models to make them happen.
I'd like to score a metic volume of the one piece High Elf Spearmen and twice as many of the old one piece Wood Elf archers, shave the entire body out of the cape and cut the High Elf Sperment to accommodate, making some Wood Elf Spearmen/Glade Guard ala Ravening Hordes/Warhammer Annual appendix book.
I am planning on making command figs for the tons of one piece plastic Beastmen I have, and have a friend in Sweden who has the old monkeback Chaos Warriors command pieces that will get that done, but I just haven't budgeted paying for the shipping.
The most complex will be the plastic Centigors from the plastic GW wolves and some Gors with banner arms turned to spears.
In the fullness of time I'd like to make some Great Weapon Marauders. Pretty simple: cut off Flail chains, glue on axe/hammer heads.
EDIT: ALmost forgot. When I finally get all the Island of Blood/Spire of Dawn sets I want, I'm going to convert the Plague Mortar teams to Jezzail teams.

I want to make a female Drukhari haemonculus with a sort of Old Crone / Wicked Witch / Baba Yaga vibe, using a spare tech-priest dominus and spare wrack and Wych parts I have around, and use the spiney tendril from the standard haemonculus to stick out of the bottom of the robe where the mechendrites usually are. But I'm terrified cos it'll take some serious sculpting and fitting, and have never tried anything that ambitious before. I'm also not sure my painting skills are good enough to "age" a female Drukhari head into looking old and haggard.

they are a solid starting point, but the issue with them is I want to make the plan capable of going into a GW store, so to be on the safe side they aren't as on the table. if they were though, you could do some things with them.
aside from a base size issue that i can see (32 vs 40- maybe you can fit them on the 32?) the Nightmares are the quickest way to get rat ogre equivalents to stand in for aberrants i know of. even though in my plan at this point Aberrants are honestly flat great as warp-mutated and could do an as-is fit.
The veer-myn infantry more or less fit as is for a role or two, and ive heard of others using them as acolyte hybrids. at the very least some of the bits from them would not go amiss. that said within GW alone i kind of have a plan for different levels of a count-as force at least. folk other than me have done some stellar conversions with an aim of merging the skaven and genestealer models together... but im going for all kneeling before the great horned rat. and this is no knock on the GSC models, i like or even love the entire range, but im seeing an opportunity here.
Biggest questions im having is what will be my Patriarch, and Atalan jackal/Jackal alphus stand ins be at this point. for the Patriarch i could upraise and really kit out a skaven warlord model or some equivalent to equate to the base and normal height... but the Jackals are a real issue for me unless i let them be like im thinking of for the aberrants, but the aberrants mutations make them so much easier to write off, because i can picture some humans joining, the skaven using them for experiments and boom, warpstone mutations... or like Mordheim. the jackals... not so much.
