No, it is explicitly telling you that you must spend 2 DD if you want to replace a 2D6 roll. If it was your interpretation, they would have said "If you want to replace both dice in a 2D6 you must use 2 DD" Instead it says if you want to replace a 2D6 roll you must spend 2 DD. It's completely different.

And it tells you that you can use “one or more”.

Yes, because some rolls such as wound and hit are only one DD and you can spend more than one on them. That has no bearing on the fact that later in the rule it explicitly calls out that for 2D6 rolls you must spend 2 destiny dice.

Want to replace a full 2D6? Spend 2 DD. Want to only control one die? Spend one DD.

"If you want to replace a 2D6 roll (such as casting roll or charge roll), you must spend 2 Destiny dice" I don't see how GW could get any more explicit with this, it does not leave room for using one DD to change one roll in a 2D6 roll.

Yeah, sorry. Won't clutter up this thread anymore.

Hm, I really don't think the rule works that way. It definitely reads to me as saying that you can spend one dice to replace a single dice and if you want to replace multiple dice you must spend multiple dice.

As for summoning, maybe we have different play styles, or different metas, or something. Because getting those free units would be something I could capitalize on for much more benefit than being written off as a garnish.

Also, at 200 points being used to represent how much pink horrors are actually worth, good one!

I think it's pretty unambiguous, and I haven't seen anyone play it differently personally, but I am one of two DoT players locally (For the moment). TGA also seems to agree on the wording being you must at this point as well. If they FAQ'd it the other way I'd be shocked, as that would be a significant boost in power.
I can see how it can be read your way, and I would be pretty happy (like really happy) to be wrong on this one. We'll have to wait and see.

The Free units are really just a bonus on top of several layers of much stronger mechanics. DD, Agendas, Coven bonus' and Tzeentch Spellcasting are all much stronger mechanics, hence why I call it a garnish. Fate points take a long longer to generate than other summoning mechanics and can be really fickle. It can end up being strong, but I don't count on summoning for anything critical, since I have so many more reliable and strong mechanics to work with. If I am summoning 10 pinks on turn 3, there is a good chance I've likely secured the win anyway.
Ohh, you're right; I misunderstood before. That makes sense now, thank you.

Yeah, pink horrors are probably worth closer to 220 points. Clanrats get 200 points per 40 wounds, so it's not like Pinks are super undercosted. Depending on how the FAQ shakes out with DD and battleshock, and if they change anything with Fold Reality, they may even become correctly costed at 200.
Well I think clanrats should cost more than they do at 40-man, but for completely different reasons. That's a whole different discussion though. Definitely true that their value could change with the FAQ. Given how GW's output has been so inconsistent on that front horrors could easily wind up 'correct' at 200. A change to the split wording could potentially nerf them such that 200 would be overcosted, even.

Sasori is right. They addressed it. You MUST spend 2 dice if using Fate dice for casting/charging. Sorry for doubting you.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yup. Great change, Sasori was right. As mentioned before, I am very happy to be wrong; it reigns in Tzeentch to the level of the other tier-1 armies at least.

Thanks guys, I appreciate that.

The FAQ swung pretty hard with the nerfbats, and brought Tzeentch back from Tier 0 to Tier 1. I was pretty surprised at how hard the LoC got hit, was not expecting the beacon of sorcery nerf and the mastery of magic nerf.

I was not surprised at the battleshock for Pink horrors being hit and the changehost being nerfed. The Changehost nerf was pretty appropriate, and does not kill the battalion in my opinion.

I run into the same problem - pouring all of my love into minis hobby-wise means it's pretty difficult to get a 2K point army together in time for a league. Here's my suggestions:

-Stormcasts. As vanilla as they are, their mono color sets of armor can be airbrushed on quickly. Their points value is relatively high. So you can make a good looking army quickly.

-Sylvaneth. They will require more models to paint, but because it's all tree bark, you just need a brown basecoat, brown wash, bone drybrush, and then do the eyes and suddenly they look like the box art.

-Nighthaunt. Airbrush: Prime white, basecoat white, apply Nilakh Oxide. Drybrush, white. Paintbrush: Black, iron, silver. Bam.
