That would do it.

good catch on blasts not working in CC. I'm still on my first steps with 9th!

Flamers could have a moral component as that has generally been their most effect component IRL.

The other option would be to let them hit all models in the selected unit within their range but take away their strength and have them wound infantry on a 5+ and vehicles on a 6+. Heavy flamers wound infantry on a 4+ instead.

or you could make flamers decent if you make terrain decent, garrisoning ruins and buildings should be possible, vice versa flamers should be prefered to dig such units out of their hidey holes.

but that runs into the issue of gw's wish to simplify everything .-

Another option that could make Flamer weapons appealing is to say units using only Flamer weapons to Overwatch may do so without needing to use the Stratagem.

You could also say Flamers may CHOOSE to use the Blast rule without actually giving it to them. That would solve the Vehicles with Flamers issue

That all sounds great to me.


ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.
