Even without huntsman its still quite powerfull, since it allows you to get bonus AP from tactical doctrine.
Battalion allows 3 HQ so you can take sammy and 2 talonmsters.

Today's FAQ has nerfed the cheese. The trait only applies to Assault Weapons, with no "counting Heavy as Assault" shenanigans. Sensible.

Sensible in the sense that all ravenwing units that carries heavy weapons usually has enough M value to get in range of majority of targets and don't really need to advance in order to get in range (and since all ravenwing units that can carry a heavy weapon are non-infantry anyways, so they could always move & shoot without penalties). But yes, advance and treat heavy as assault weapon was wrong in all sense possible. You can still use SotR to fire any weapons as if not advanced to replicate (actually, have greater effect than) the previous effect of the WT in question.

When the Warlord was first changed in the 9th Ed FAQ they were clearly trying to find a purpose for the Warlord Trait since it was made completely redundant by 9th Edition Vehicle rules. Makes you kind of wonder about Psychic Awakening being written with 9th Ed in mind...When I saw the first 9th FAQ I figured they were giving Ravenwing Landspeeders a way to Advance (and get the 4++) while still being able to fire without using SoTR. Now, it can be nice to have my Black Knights Advance and shoot without worry and save SoTR for something else that turn. It's a 1CP investment up front as a second Warlord trait that might save CPs as the game goes.
Anyhoo - guess it goes to show that these days if a rules interaction looks to good to be true, then it probably is!

You mean warlord trait that will never be taken again. The other 2 Ravenwing ones are far better than this new piece of crap.

I don't know about that. RW apothecary/ancient/champions w/ impeccable mobility hidden by large unit of RBK via look-out-sir sounds more promising than 1 time use WT for infiltrating w/ +1 unit. IMO, ravenwing lists have severely diminishing returns on movement granting/repositioning abilities.

Agreed. If you are running the Sammael/Talonmaster deathball then Tactically Flexible is the go-to to stay in Devastator Doctrine for an extra turn. Curious to see how much of Dark Angels Ritual of the Damned survives into 9th Ed. Given our Super Doctrine survived something like two weeks before being Iron Hands collateral damage, the book's tabletop value looks a little slim...Guess I'm getting off-topic for YMDC.
