Necrons are getting two big big kits marines are getting.some guns and a tank.
Also no way elder are getting a good release after blood of the phoenix I am expecting the elder as a species to be squatted this edition. Same as tau.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eldar get squatted, but not before Ynarri are positioned to be their Relaunch/Primaris vehicle. The fluff is already teasing it.. eldar are a dying race, ynarri are the resurrection. I doubt Tau are going anywhere while Socialism is having a popular Renaissance in the real world. GW isn’t exactly subtle or veiled at the real life references.

First of all, Eldar are not getting squatted ever- they've been with the game 33 years, and they'll be with the game in 33 more.
Second, the failure of BotP was the inclusion of existing models in the box. If it have been $150 - $180 CAD box with just Drazhar, Jain Zar, 10 Incubi and 10 Banshees, it would have sold well, and GW knows they made that mistake. Some of the changes we've seen- the new sisters, PA buffs for GK, changes in 9th- these all indicate that GW does listen, even if their chosen solutions to community identified problems don't always please everyone. In that light, the performance of BotP is more likely to lead to a fulsome release rather than less likely; GW knows they have to win Eldar players back, and now they have something to prove.
I think a big box game of Eldar is coming- you get some Drukari, some Ynnari and some CWE all in the box with a book of fluff and missions. The models will be mostly if not all new, likely push fits to be released as multiparts later. Basically a character and an MSU for each faction- they may even throw in 'Quins for a model count of 24. We've been assuming the Lelith preview meant a new dex for DE soon, but she might also be part of a box like this. If not a big box, they can achieve a similar effect with a round of Kill Team/ Warhammer Quest releases.
A third and final option is a mixed Eldar vs. Chaos box (Emperor's Children) in year 2.
We should have more solid leads about Q4 by the end of September.

From what I understand of w40k history, there is this one faction, that is played by more then half the players, and is a lot more recognisble and sellable then all eldar combined. Yet GW is soft squating them. So maybe not be too optimistic in eldar staying unchanged.

dude, Space Marines are not being soft, hard, or middle squatted. I can play a game set in m38 right now and funny thing, I cant use primaris for it.
War of the beast - no primaris
Tyrannic wars - no primaris
reign of blood - no primaris
see a trend here....
but I can play a game in m42
Plague wars - Astartes & Primaris
Indomitus Crusade- Astartes & Primaris
it's almost like you've forgotten that there are 10k yrs of battles/war/whatever before the rift...

Soft squatting =/= squatting
Getting Primaris and squatting old marines is not the same as squatting the faction. You may not like Primaris, but if old marines disappeared tomorrow, there would still be a Marine Faction, because like it or not, the Primaris would continue.
So to bring it back to Eldar, might they release super-steroid united Eldar 2.0 and can the existing models? Yes, they might. The point still stands; Eldar aren't going anywhere. They may change, and even drastically and in ways I don't like- I fully acknowledge that. But they will remain.

The main reason Primaris are good are the rules on top of them, not the basic dude/Intercessor stats. This was obvious at the beginning of 8th where they had half the guns-per-wound that oldmarines did but more wounds per point. They were not setting the world on fire at that point. It's the bargain points costs and non-stat rules piled on top that increase their offensive output are why they are where they are.
As far as everyone else....It's really mostly the same thing - Their rules need to catch up and have a better sense of internal balance. Banshees are great models but the rules make them completely unexciting.
That's they way it went with most new Xenos releases this edition: Orks fell pretty flat, GSC was new hotness for all of like a month. New Shadowsun that all Septs can use? Very exciting...until her master of war ability doesn't change so it doesn't matter. And she's the only model Tau get in the whole edition? Come on, how is anyone supposed to maintain any enthusiasm for their army? The worst is that every Xenos release lately comes paired with something for Marines that steals the spotlight.
Yeah, I had pretty much no reason to get at all excited for any rules that any xenos faction got in 8th, with the exception of the Kelermorph, who immediately caused an "alderaan getting blown up" of screams and wailing from every marine player so he got gigadunked on after like a month.

Yeah, part of the issue is that the marine line itself really needed an update. They were starting to not hold up as well and for whatever reason GW thought it would be better to make "Primaris" rather than just say these were the new upscaled marine models. I suspect that GW looks at this not as a "squatting" or even a "soft-squatting" and more like a major update to the line. Like when they redid the DE witch cult models, etc., with the exception being that you can still buy the old marine models (for now).

And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..." |

I doubt it. GW did absolutely zero things with Ynnari all throughout 8th ed, I'm pretty sure they're a nothingburger at this point. People don't want a flavorless, unified eldar that's now a suicidal death cult, it's just a weird thing that came with a weird model release and GW did less with it in 8th than they did with the Inquisition. It's firmly in the "Oh....you're still here, hm? Ok, um...here's some rules in a white dwarf I guess?" camp along with Inquisition, SoS, Assassins, Blackstone Fortress models, etc.
