yeah, but who want a buggy as hell app that crashes?

Yeah I'm sure it has, in your own little microcosm.

I'm not a part of that microcosm, I don't have my nose stuffed up GW's backside waiting eagerly daily for daily updates. I don't see why anyone should have to be.

So to be fair to my flgs owner he gave me the sheet to look at prices and I was looking at his pricing for the entire set of models he got (100$ for 2 Chaplin bikes) so it was my mistake. A mod can close this thread if they wish as it appears to have gone completely off the rails from my original intent and my intent was wrong to begin with. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes sorry about that. People seem to want to dissect my opinion.

Are you just using "FLGS" as shorthand for independent or something?

Worth mentioning that his price sheet likely means he's going through a third party...because $100 for 2 Chaplain bikers would be $10 more than buying them direct from GW at retail prices, let alone trade account prices.

It's because you're not presenting an opinion. You're presenting something as more complex than it is and exaggerating. Lots of reassurance in the thread that it *isn't* that complex. If you want to ignore that and throw veiled insults then eh, you do you.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

You post here on Dakka. The information gets there within minutes. You don't need to be "stuffed up GW's backside" in order to find the stuff.

Yeah, not really. Just informing you that stuff exists. But now knowing that you would rather just complain, that won't happen again.

I didn't ask for my opinion to be dissected in the first place. I stated an opinion in agreement with the OPs point - of GW jacking up the cost of the hobby, even though he was mistaken about the prices in his flgs. It wasn't an invite to a discussion or dissection of my view and one is not necessary.

If you don't agree with my original post in this thread, then just move on, instead of derailing the thread.

Not particularly frequently. I check the threads I've posted, I check the recent threads using the Thread Tools. That's about it.

Good. I didn't ask you to inform me.

to be fair, it can be hard to get a hold of particular models right now, so the FLGS owner\manager can set the price at whatever they want. Also, there aren't many in-store events right now in my neck of the woods, so why not make some money on what will sell.

Heck, my FLGS took 3 months to get a pair of Helverins. And I go online to see that people are charging a premium for the ones on ebay and amazon. I got a couple secondhand at a discount, but it was a near thing.

Depending on the model, it can very much be a sellers market. Especially when it comes to new, high demand models.

Not 100% sure but with trade account terms, but I do think that absolutely can present an issue.

There's a reason for that though. Helverins were out of stock here in the US when GW shut down US/UK operations. Engine War came out not long after they reopened, Helverins came back...and then promptly sold through again.

Now everything's still a COVID related mess for shipping(USPS, customs, and FedEx are all a clusterfeth right now--my local shops keep having stuff sitting at a FedEx facility never getting unpacked+delivered since USPS won't do it for them anymore) and we're dealing with the usual new edition swapovers for boxes and the like.

Also wouldn't be shocked to see Knights as part of an early push for 2021 tied to AdMech.

Just play with the book then.

Or, if you’re invested in the hobby, accept you need to invest some time in keeping up to date. Railing against that is futile, as that’s how it is and whining online won’t change that. Sorry, just facts.

Yeah, well, I guess it's a generational thing, but I expect a complete product or as near as. Especially for what GW charge for it.

40k is a mess. Has been for years. Sorry, just facts.

Confused. Why is this generational? I started in 2nd edition. It was sort of fun, but it wasn't a competitive game. At all. It was just fun bs. It wasn't a "complete" product, just some ideas thrown together in the game system. 3rd was an improvement, and towards the end was pretty good...aside the armageddon codex. 4th/5th was fine. Stopped playing 6th.

The game has gone up in cost. GW has invested heavily in production and product design. 8th/9th seems to be among the best rulesets in my time playing GW. This is a luxury good, and you are spending money at your discretion. If it is a problem...stop playing. It will not be getting cheaper. Very likely in 5 years it only gets worse.

It was just below 100$. If it was 48$ x2 and I just rounded it up to 100$ its original intent doesn't matter because like I said I was wrong. I will pay my flgs 48$ for a 45$ if it's what he needs to do during this covid mess to stay open. Either way like I said I was wrong so guys please calm down I messed up and he wasn't upselling a 45$ to 100$. Like I said, please close this thread.
