I have a handful of metal Tyranids that I accepted as payment for painting commissions, and overall I'd much rather have plastic. They hold up to transport better, they're lighter, and for the most part they fit together a lot better.

Well it completely depends upon the minie.
Most metal Tyranids? Especially gaunts/gants/gargoyles/stealers? Sure give me plastic.
Other things like my Fire Dragons? Or most of my Guard? Ill keep my metal thank you.

And of course you can't properly dreadsock anyone without a metal dread....

Metal minis are great. They have so much more character than most plastics, organic features especially shine in metal, and the heft feels nice.
