Congrats to the winners, and thanks Nev for setting this up and everyone who commented. I think I actually learned a lot more from seeing the other projects and WIPs than from my own entry. Gave lots of votes accordingly but I feel most has been said already - the NMM and oil 'tutorials' and results have been super interesting, also kudos to
# Freya for enduring commitment to yet always new painterly experiments
# Tyranid Horde for totally out-grimdarking me here!!
# Ezki for the amazing rust golem
# Midget Gems for taking action figure concepts to a new minuscule level

Anyway, painting the Warcry minis was fun and I'm quite happy how they turned out, but I'm also happy to do something exactly opposite for the new round!!

MobileSuitRandom - Lovely work, although I'm not sure you need to extend the Blanchitsu style to the base rims... (I think they would look better in a less patchy state).

Ahaha yes! I've started painting the base rims in this muted black a while ago to 'clean them up' but every time they look even less clean then before and I'm too lazy to give them another coat. Thanks for pointing this out, now I won't have an excuse next time

JoshInJapan wrote:Zergsmasher: Another fine addition to your Dark Angels. Your Contrast/Drybrushing turned out really well-- they don't look drybrushed at all.

Thank you very much!
Ezki wrote:ZergSmasher: The edge highlights bring out the shapes and details well on these guys. The red weapons and the bone colored aquilas work well with the green armor.

I'm glad you notice the edge highlights- with my previous method(s), they were not always very obvious. I like doing the red weapons because they help break up the mass of darker colors; same with the bone details.
feltmonkey wrote:ZergSmasher - They look good. I think your new technique gives the models a bit more contrast. The darks are darker, and the highlights are brighter. You've got a really nice Dark Angels armour colour there.

That was the idea. My old method used to just leave the models looking way too flat and featureless, despite being shaded and highlighted. This is the way forward for my Dark Angels, I think.
Arakasi wrote:ZergSmasher - They look like Dark Angels, so, success? Transfers look applied well.

Thanks!

Congratulations to the winners! You all definitely deserved the podium spots. And huge shout out to everyone who took the time to give everyone a comment! That's the real reward of these challenges; getting to show everyone your handiwork and get some C&C afterwards (or even during the challenge).

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
