I hear they work hard and play hard. It’s also such a special environment that many staff members feel like it’s a family. Rumor is they have a ping pong table AND foosball!

Oooooo... responsible for making a guidebook for licenees! I wonder what kind of unbalanced random tables and results it'll generate for them.

Please please tell me that the style guide has numerous spelling errors, poor translations, and instruction only barely decipherable through a day 0 Errata.

I assume there's a rule "If it can be written in one sentence, use at least three".

Sadly this seems to be becoming more and more common across many industries. GW have been doing this for decades and I think it hurts them more than helps because I suspect they waste a lot of time going through CVs and offering interviews to people who won't accept the offered job when they find out how low the salary is.

Juniors? Even Senior jobs many times omit Salary. Its such a waste of everyones time and money its not even funny.
Considering the prices of commuting in the UK we are talking serious money out of the window.

Problem is more companies are doing this not less.

Edit: Even the ones that are brave enough to put salary doesn't mean they dont come up with some BS to change that on the interview day... Heck I know some cases of people accepting jobs and not discussing wages on interviews assuming the wage was has advertised... Their fault really.
Remember guys working for a company is a relationship and goes both ways, avoid companies that try to screw you on interview day.

I know this is a poor attempt at humor, but it would be important to understand what the role of a producer (i.e. Kathleen Kennedy) is vis-a-vis what the role of a writer is. Only one of those two roles is actually a creative that would be involved with writing, and its not the producer.

I've had producers walk in on a virtual meeting and change three quarters of what the art director established. I've had thousands of man hours across the entire team go down the drain because a producer had an idea. I know of similar stories happening in the writers pen, especially on high profile stuff with big names producing.

Producers stick their noses into everything, all the time.

Take as you wish from Justice League and Suicide Squad.
It was the producers getting involved changing things, particularly the latter - as JL had the other (Whedon) reasons for it’s changes too but I bet the producers got involved there plenty.

Yeah, the experience they're asking for is really weird unless GW have suddenly massively changed their approach to salaries. Showrunner in the TV industry or Head Writer for video games is a very well paid job compared to what GW are known to offer.

GW pay some of their staff very well indeed.

I am reasonably confident that that's what happened when they advertised for the 40K Lead Game Designer role. I got through to the 2nd round, and had to produce a video of my plan for doubling 40K's market by improved game design, but I didn't ever get the impression that the exercise was about much more than justifying promoting someone internally, and maybe crowdsourcing some ideas. In particular, the very generic feedback I got, not relating at all to the video I made, enhanced that impression!

The time spent on doing that you will score a job if your good at what you do.

I already have a job paying similarly (teaching game design to undergrads and graduates). And yeah, I took several weeks to put the video together, including (gasp) actual market research. Which might have been what they didn't like, IDK

I'm (almost) sure they do. I'm equally sure they're not paying their lead rules writer the same as an experience showrunner, as those people also tend to be EP on their respective shows. I wouldn't be surprised in they're literally paying an order of magnitude less than that role normally expects.

Had the same thing happen to me. Went for a job that eventually morphed into the lead WHC writer. There were 6 or 7 of us at the interview but it was obvious from the moment we walked in the door who they were going to give it to. Seemed like an epic waste of time and money for GW. Related to that, I later found out what the salary was and...yeah. If I'd have known I wouldn't have bothered. My salary was fairly low at the time but still comfortably way above what GW were offering.
