Are the same people saying critics are bad while also relying on critics? Or are those two distinct groups?

In the case of people like my grandparents, they will, in the same conversation use THE SAME critic both ways!!! In one breath they laud someone like Siskel and Ebert, while in the very next, they will say Siskel and Ebert are terrible and you shouldn't rely on critics.

Rise! Rise from the ashes! You shall live again! Mwuauahahahahaha!

So anyways yeah, watched this. It’s alright, kind of mediocre, but not a bad way to be entertained for a bit. Fairly short at only an hour and a half. Basic and predictable plot. Decent action. Ok emotional baggage and development. Being earth and dinosaurs is pretty much irrelevant to the story, especially given they’re not really recognizable dinosaurs. Other than a T Rex that I can look at and go yeah, that’s pretty much a T Rex, the rest look like someone just making up their own generic dinosaur type lizards or trying to draw them from memory without looking at references.

It's a fun movie. It's pretty straightforward, though, and I don't think it has enough substance to it to get me to watch it again for a long time. Unlike, for instance, Pitch Black that has a similar story but tons of fun scenes and character interaction that make it worthwhile to watch every once in a while.

I will credit the movie for having even large dinosaurs that aren't magically bulletproof. Granted, he shoots space bullets, but still. That's a big plus in my book.

Kind of weird about the dinosaur designs, yes. I agree it makes the location pretty moot.

Nehekhara lives! Sort of!

I enjoyed it. I really wish the trailers left out the dinosaurs and any potential of the world being Earth. It would have been a much better movie going in completely blind.

I like the Dad + adopted daughter bit.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
