I also like the ogryns.

Catachans are pretty much useless as anything but chaos cultists etc.

I was never a fan of the 2nd ed. War Walker. Actually, the war walker in general was just silly "Yes, Arathriel, we're strapping you to the front. have fun."

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Plastic Catachans are one of the things that got me back into 40k back in 1999.  I always wanted an IG army and they were (at the time) $20 for 20.

SO I made it my life's mission to find uses for them, first as zombie IG then as these guys:

But yeah, on their own they're just rubbish.

not necessarily the worst model, but the whole 2nd edition idea that you could have one pose for 50 figures and that was ok turned me off of 40k for all of 2nd edition

That and the giant red Lascannons, so silly looking.

Who is Gary Morely and why do I hate his sculpting so badly?  Well, one word Nagash.  One look at that clown hat wearing piece of doo doo and you get a taste of how terrible Morely can sculpt.

I also belive he's to blame for the Dark Eldar Warriors.  If  I'm not mistaken he's to blame for the current incarnation of bucktoothed Scorpians and most recently the Jane Fonda Etherals with thier hand weights.

Uhhh...that's some serious accusion here. But if it's true...well...

The Dark Eldar Warriors are, imo, the decent looking models in the Dark Eldar range. And these Heavy weapon, pimped up Dark Eldar. Whatwastheirname...
Anyway, combine the Warrior parts with ordinary Guardians (spare a few) and you have some nice looking "evil" Eldar. For the non-happy-pants fans out there.

P.S. I have to admit that the Mini range is clearly getting better and better. Especially the Tyranids.

Yeah, the Warriors aren't all that bad. Too spiky for my tastes, but enh. Beware combining DE Warrior and Eldar Guardian models, though. Saw a guy the other day who did that and painted them black and silver. My first reaction: They look like KISS Guardians. All they needed was platform boots. Also, with respect to the DE range, there're a lot of stinkers, but I think the Incubi are pretty cool.

Who ever says the Dark Eldar warriors don't suck need to talk a look at the "crazy space hair" warrior on the right there and then look me in the eye and say it dosn't suck. Now they arn't all bad but can you tell me which one of these is not quite the same?

This photo was taken at our last family reunion.  Cousin "crazy space hair" is considered the black sheep of the family with good reason.

This is my first post on Dakka and I thought this was a pretty good topic for my first reply.

Worst models of all time!

Nagash, Chaplain Lemartes and wood elf queen ariel (giant butterfly wings, eh?)

Now, if I can also go into the Necromunda side of it, Necromunda has released a lot of terrible models recently. The new orlocks and their chins the size of a bumper. The new bounty hunters, sculpted lovingly by 10 year old fans of the game.

Well, I AM aware of the KISS-army effect of these guys, but...i think i got that covered.
Only for your information, the Glam-Rock hair isn't part of any models in that unit.
Because, well, it is simply horrible to witness, i don'T play with dirty tricks...

OH MY I had blocked Nagash from my memory.... *shudders*

And Lemartes... I've always wondered how combat effective his clown armor is... I mean how in the heck does he NOT get his Crozius stuck in his mask spikes?

Just for the record, the less aweful DE warriors in starko's post are actually warrior/guardian conversions. So that's not really a true comparison. But whoever painted them made really bad minis look good, so kudos.

I think the fact that the person in the DE warrior pic I put up used the guardians to convert his DE warriors to look much cooler speaks volumes for the level of crapness of the DE warriors.  However "crazy space hair" is part of that same sprue and I think that piece of slowed dookie says it all.

The worst part about the whole Nagash debacle is that he is quite literally the most powerful sorcerer and necromancer in the OLD WORLD!

He is responsible for all the undead in WHF period. His spell created the living dead society of the tomb kings, his subterfuge allowed the rise of the vampire bloodline, and he perfected the art of raising the dead. He was only destroyed when the skaven forged the Fellblade (which kills those that wield it) and gave it a freed prisoner of Nagash, who was only able to hack the sorcerer apart while Nagash rested.

Such power and history, and what can we use to represent this force of nature on the battlefield?

KILLER CLOWN FROM OUTER SPACE?????!!1?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!?!111?!?!?11/!

I think the reason they haven't ever brought him back as a special character is that even GW realizes how horrible a sculpt he was, and we all know their answer to anything they can't fix is...the Tyranids ate them! (squats anyone?)

Yes Nagash is awful

and the first two Tau Ethereals arent great, but come on the third kung fu one is actually quite nice. Its the only Ethereal I like and is much better than the old ones.

Yes the new possessed Chaos Marines are truly shocking!

I think the very worst GW model ever was Nagash, not just because he is a hideous clown looking thing (and was Gary Morley's first multi-part sculpt) but because the fluff was great and there was a fantastic piece of artwork in the original 4th Edition Undead Armies book, and then we're left with this:

Of course for 40K, Nothing comes close to Lemartes, or as he is invariably referred to on another forum I haunt L******s, as the full name can make eyes bleed.

I used to be chaplaingrabthar back on Old(er) Dakka, but now I am the mysterious lost_limey.

I'm returning to GW after a hiatus and starting Tau

Well....with a bit of chopping and cleaning,Lemartes -could- look nice.but it would take some work...
the new stealth suits....not stealthy at all.looks more like a mini wraithlord or something.
ork buggies....eeewww...

I also just thought about that.Worst model in what way? Ugly, stupad looking or the model capacity wise?
Like for example the XV suits(crisis, broadsides):They arent really posable without much cutting and work
Dreadnoughts-unposable unless you want to lose a finger or two.
how about that?

I assume worst model as in Ugly. Even if a model only has one pose, if its cool, who cares.

Nagash is ugly and a let down.
