With that in mind, being the Crow wouldn't just be limited to moody musician, artist types. Can you imagine a Crow that was previously some Cubical Drone? Imagine an outfit that was a twisted version of glasses/button down shirt/slacks/black wingtip shoes . Like the movie Falling Down, but supernatural. Honestly, it's a twist I'd enjoy.

One of the stories in the novel series from the late '90s was about a kindergarten teacher, killed along with her kids when someone bombed the school. Was a nice switch up from the usual moody goth protagonist.

Really? Anything comic-book related this year seems to have the MCU or DC stamp on it. I'm open to suggestions, though...

"Comic book related" was not part of the original statement. If that is what was meant it would have been easy to say but it seems we're going with the "It isn't what I said it is what I meant and it is your fault for not reading what I didn't write" route.

Oh for goodness sake I'm not attacking you. You said you knew of other movies and being as I had only spoke of comic-related stuff so far - The Crow, the MCU and DC movies - I assumed you were on my wave length. And looking through this year's news The Crow is the only comic book film outside of the MCU and DC stuff, and I'd appreciate knowing of something I've overlooked.

If you have taken this personally then I'll shake your hand now and we'll get back to the topic on hand.

There being more than DC and Marvel films wasn't in response to you, wires got crossed, and no it wasn't taken personally.

It's been a few years, so I had to look up more details myself. It was called 'Clash by Night'... protagonist owned a daycare centre, and it was bombed by right-wing terrorists trying to send a 'message' to the government. Takes a few twists as she realises that she's turning into a monster herself in trying to get revenge. I don't remember much more of the specifics, other than that she makes friends with a cop along the way (He may have been someone she knew when she was alive, or connected to the case, don't remember for sure) who helps out somewhat once he learns what's going on, and that her body is a reconstructed jigsaw (but passes for normal from a distance) as a result of how she died.

The books are all here - https://www.thriftbooks.com/series/the-crow-novels/46555/

They're a mixed bag, as licensed tie-ins tend to be, but enjoyable enough if you're into that sort of thing. I recall Clash by Night as being the best of the bunch, possibly just because it ventured a little further away from the 'make it as goth as possible' formula used by the movies and the other books, so it was cool to see such a different take on it all.

Great ideas and would have much preferred them instead, but after Ghostbusters and Force Awakens I think its best they first re-introduce The Crow to a new generation, and then make another one with a female lead so that everyone is on the same hyme sheet as to how The Crow works, so to speak.

Given that they explain the premise with 10 seconds of voiceover in the trailer, I don't think remaking the original movie is really required to reintroduce the concept.

I dunno...I have a hard time calling foul on this film for changing the story when the Lee film also changed a lot from the comic book in the third act. A sword fight on the roof?

They're all interpretations of the source material.

Sure, but that also doesn't mean it is going to be decent either. Just having changes alone isn't going to make it good or bad but the nature and execution of those changes. Of course their are things that have nothing to do with adaptations at play as well such as directing, acting, lighting, and so on. It is all speculation at this point, which as a consumer we're allowed to make. The reason for the trailers is to try and get us interested but if it doesn't look good it can also keep people at home.

They could have cheated and just remade the first one with all the stuff cut out added back in (such as the torment making him injure himself, which are wounds that don't heal, etc.).

Saw the trailer on a bigger screen and the facial tattoos didn't stand out nearly as much, and thus, wasn't as distracting as initially appeared.

The book and films all are supernatural but this one feels a bit different and I think it is because the filmmakers just seems to be clumsily saying out loud what is already obvious visually. "You have the power of a god" is a line spoken in the trailer.

I'm a little more optimistic but elements still seem like they were "AI generated".
