Apparently UFO was an inspiration for the japanese show Neon Genesis Evangelion. Totally blew me away.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Could you have one without the other? Could you picture the two properties as different seasons of a parent show?

After series one, Gerry invested in a much improved larger lunar base for S.H.A.D.O., but for various reasons the series wasn't renewed. But Gerry did what Gerry does when a series is cancelled and make another one straight away. No point in wasting a brand new moonbase model (and probably set designs) that had yet to appear on the telly, so it became Moonbase Alpha and Space: 1999 arose from the wreckage of UFO. None of the Anderson shows are linked really, there is no Anderson Television Universe. International Rescue never had to worry about the Mysterons.

Much as I enjoy UFO, if it had a Series Two, then we probably wouldn't have had the wonderfully utilitarian Eagle transporter. So I guess without the first show's cancelation we wouldn't have the second. Bit like Firefly and Castle. So on September the 13th raise a glass and remember that day in 1999 when the Moon was blasted out of earth orbit.

Ha! I also immediately opened this thread to say Space: Above & Beyond! I really hope some TV execs lurk on here…. Given modern TV can often support larger casts you could potentially have the aviators and then maybe a SF team (rather than just grunts).

I also agree on no Firefly reboot and be very cautious about continuation. I adore the original, but it really was bottled lightning based on the chemistry of the cast and that’s really hard to replicate.

I would like to see a BSG series set in the original Cylon war, I think there’s a lot of room to explore there.

From Wikipedia:

However, when ratings for the syndicated broadcasts in America dropped towards the end of the run, ITC cancelled the second series plans. Unwilling to let the UFO 2 pre-production work go to waste, Anderson instead offered ITC a new series idea, unrelated to UFO, in which the Moon would be blown out of Earth orbit taking the Moonbase survivors with it. This proposal developed into Space: 1999.

So not really a sequel or spin-off. just them taking what work was already done and creating a new series from it.

I would love to see a continuation of into the badlands. The gun cliffhanger makes me want more.

Netflixed just announce a TJ Hooker reboot so if someone here was looking for that now is your time.

Nice. TJ Hooker was the first cop show to deal with Miranda Laws.

(Aka reading the accused their rights)

Ehhh... I'm mentally broken by the image of William Shatner, porn star.

☆☆☆

There is only one cop show that needs to be brought back (mainly because it took place in the distant future of the year 2025 and had Mecha).
