For as much as
GW loves money, it's just silly of them not to make all these models easily available to people who want to purchase them. The "exclusive" model concept has been around for decades and I have yet to meet anyone who finds the practice really important or special, it just makes buying something cool impossible for most.
I happened to be near my local Warhammer store on Boxing Day so I went in to pick up a knight and some paints for myself and the Kroot for a buddy. It was around 3
PM, and the dude running the till told me the sold the last one around noon. He then went into a long spiel about them (
GW) making some on demand but having to order in person at a Warhammer store between
bs date and
bs date in January. I didn't bother listening as I was suddenly reminded why I don't shop in Warhammer stores. They never have the models I want, and I can just order what I want online. Also, arbitrary
bs limited supplies of in-store models. Left and swung by my
FLGS for the paints I wanted on my way home.
