And what is life without a little complicated knotwork thrown in

And thank you Meerkat & Gitsplitta

Hello YourIntestines, yep you are spot on, the hammer heads are from the Hammerers/Longbeards dwarf set, they are the great weapon hammer heads

I got mine from a bits store, as its so much cheaper than buying the boxed set

Mostly, on my phone.

Lovely, lovely use of the dwarf bits. Of course, if you had bought dwarves, you could've used wolf scout leftovers to make norse-squats.

I could have done, but trying to sneak £60 past the wife would have been hard.

I had actually contemplated it too... But I am far more in need of modelling supplies than the models themselves, my Tausept ochre has taken on the texture of peanut butter & I need a bunch of new brushes.

I could make the squats and take them to the local gw for a game.... If they try to kick me out I'll just say I am playing 40K at 15mm scale

And thank you Trondheim, I certainly will keep going.... I have actually been getting a real kick out of painting my mini's lately

Just a quick update.

I really should be asleep, but we got woken up by an emergency alarm call... Thankfully nobody was hurt and nothing was wrong & we didn't have to evacuate the rig.
Too awake now to sleep, so I thought that I would post some more PIP pictures of my terminators. About halfway through doing the helms I was going cross-eyed, so I may need to at least revisit the gold

Lighting went weird on this one, but he looks suitably angry and ready to smite someone.

I need to do a wee bit of work on his gemstones, and the steel. My badab black is gone and my Abbaddon black is drying out badly, its almost like paste, I wonder if it's the A/C?

Head slightly tilted, Its not glued in yet, not sure if I will go with helmets or bare heads, any thoughts on this please?

Darn yes, I missed the mould line on top of the hammer, but in fairness, it's all but invisible to the naked eye, from 10 feet away I might disguise it by painting a gemstone effect on the top there.

Hehe he looks like he is trying to tip-toe up behind you so he can bash you on the bonce

Group shot...

Your thoughts please? Helmets or bare heads? Does the red & black helm work? Any tips for making improvements.

about the yellow... the way you did that... at first I thought it was gold... your painting really stepped up the ladder... mebbe you should attempt one day some NMM...
the blending of the energy effects underline that by the way ...

and if still needed.... c13 / c19 or c20... (probably still some already mentioned... but I am a sucker currently when it comes to staying focused and being able to remember^^)

Cheers Graven: I kinda like the cocked head, a bit like when a dog gives you that quizzical look

Thanks Cam and Vik, I will try NMM, but I will save that for the special character models that I have coming up, and your shield design has been noted

Gonna have knotted nightmares soon.

Modelling has been quiet for now as it is family time, but I will be very quiet over the next week or 2 as the family venture off to Cyprus for a bit of quality time together.

I will come roaring back though. Take care and don't drink yellow paint

Love those termies.

I always look at the HH Temies on the FW site and go "meh" then I see some painted up and Im like... "ooooohhh shiny". I already have a 30 model Logan's Heroes (I refuse to call it LoganWing) army put together though, I've gone too far down the modern era path.

Hi Captain Stabby, sorry for not replying sooner, but vacations, training and now back to work have kept me awy from my trusty keyboard.

The HH terminators are lovely, lots of little details to pick up on, and I made a concious decision to go grey so I could use them when the HH wolves finally come out.

Until then, they serve as my creme de la creme and get to wear ancient relic armour. I do hear you on not wanting to repaint those you already have as it is a big PITA, but there is nothing to stop oou getting them and doing them in a 40K colour scheme. And when you use them for HH, well they are Russ' chosen warrior from Onn Compny and get to show they are the best by adopting a different wolf colour!!

Easy

Anyway time for a mahoosive update... Apologies for being away a while. I have been dragged into a painting competition, Dark Angels vs Space Wolves... The only caveat is that I cannot use models already started so my HH Termies are on the back burner just now until about a weeks time when I get my first batch of comp. models done.... So lets kick off with myupdate.

Just before going offshore a mysterious man in blue knocked on my door and lo' he carried a package... What was inside? I hear you mutter.

This!!!

And

These also came along from Moogy... Cheers fella! He's a great dakka trader btw. Sternguard & Centurion heads.

As I don't have access to a microwave, I broke out the blue stuff to give it a trial run. This stuff is so blimmin easy to use.
3 minutes in a microwave immersed in a cup of water, and apart from using my wifes cutlery to fish it out the water no tools required!
Pulled it into small chunks and set to casting moulds. This is 1 piece that I tried.

Let it sit a moment or 2 to cool/set and all done.

Then I used some green stuff to make the pieces, with minimal water in the moulds to act as a release (the bluestuff is pretty flexible so you can wiggle stuff out without issue).
And this is what I ended up doing with the cast pieces. Hope you like what happened to Logan, the pieces cast are the wolf head, the chest skull and the wolf legs on his cloak, plus the pendant.

I also did Erik Morkai' twin wolfs head which is his company symbol:

So what do you think?
Have I gone OTT?
I wish I had found this stuff years ago, it is so simple, easy and re-usable by re-microwaving!! I thoroughly recommend it.

Continuing on... But what about this competition I hear you cry!!
Well I have made a start to my Fenris wolves and my Thunderwolf cavalry.
First I removed the riders, largely without incident.

And gotten the basic colours down and a first wash on most of the wolves

Group shot.

The Greys

The Dark Browns/ Blackmanes

The Light Browns..

And finally the babies

Well I hope you liked the wee update, I am not much of a Skald/ story teller, but hey!..

Any hints. tips C&C always welcomed

Great stuff. Like the wolfy update a lot.

Comp stuff looks great, but the green stuff work is awesome. That mould stuff is great.

As a by the by, have you tried using "Quiksteel". It is a bit more expensive, sets a lot quicker and sets solid, holds detail better. Or Milliput, but that takes forever to set, but sets very solid.

Hi Gitsplitta: Glad you approve. Sharpened up the light brown wolves last night, gave them a bit more aof a highlight and got most of the fine details done.
I will leave the Greys and Darks pretty much as is I think.

Then on to the riders

Hey Graven: Thanks and yes you can never go OTT in the grimdarkiverse, glad you like

Hullo Cam: I have never heard of Quiksteel. I like the blue stuff because it has a bit of flex in it, so I can push the moulded parts out witout damaging them, especially only giving GS a few hours to sure so its still a wee bit flexible
I was wanting to use milliput in my moulds, rather than as moulds because the manufacturers videoes used it, but alas the local hobby store didn't have any. Which reminds me, I need to see if she does half-beads that I can use as shield bosses.

Speaking of shields, I scrapped the card shields and went with plan B. I think it looks aokay and I'll put pictures up later tonight to show you and get your opinions.

Cheers guys.
