Well I figgured out why the "touch up of the green was going poorly... I was using the wrong green... I've re painted the stripe and now need to re do the gray along the stripe and touch up the numbers a little. then Onnwards to adding the sandbags... then weapons... then to weather everything...

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

On to the Pics.

After Re greening (I went with Option 2) before touch up

The next pictures show where the (wrong green) seeped under the masking tape as it was both too thin and I was over applying the paint. (Bleh)

After touch ups (gray is still wet)

I've been using one of those tightly rolled paper blending tools (usually used for charcoal or pencil drawing) to burnish the edges of my masking tape to great effect. Also it helps you to learn to move your airbrush always above the masking tape, never spraying at an angle where the paint could shoot under the tape. You want to move the airbrush( not your wrist like we do with a regular brush)

Looks totally badass Galorn! All your effects came together very well!

Can I make one, small suggestion though? I imagine the edges of the painted stripe peeling in spots, especially along the edges.

You just basically want to keep the brightest highlight on the bottom of the scrape.

The Rust effect is simply two different paints layered on.

A heavily thinned Liquitex "Burnt Umber" (very similar to the GW "scorched Brown") liberally applied. Once dry a follow up coat of some thinned Liquitex "Raw Sienna" Sponged/stippled into the boundaries of the area of the "Burnt Umber".

The con was alot of fun and very informative for me.

well it poked me into starting a piece of terrain so if you guys feel the urge i know galorn took a peek at it.

galorn, so scrched borwn and stipple in so lighter brown? do you think i could sponge it in also or would that over do it? my thought on that is some parts look way more rusted and what not.

Always use orange as the highlight color for red or brown rust..It really adds the depth you are looking for!
