Such as building a gun emplacement but without using an actual 'gun'... aka build the gun from scratch, not a standard lascannon from a mold or so? That'd be cool

Yeah definitively. Improvise, be creative, use your imagination, not only in what you build but in how you build it.

As for the time limit, Meade gave us 3 months for the last competition and that seemed to work quite well, so that would take us to the end of October or beginning of November, which I think is a decent amount of time as everyone
has real life to deal with.

yeah! that sounds like a cool comp... my shrine is still unfinished but i love to scratchbuilt a gun emplacement ...

i ahve already thought about how to make a xenos version... tho... if i go again steampunk... i guess this would be alien too?

I will definitely be in for the next contest... a good three months is good amount of time. I'm sure hk will make a new thread in good time but keeping this one running a little longer discussing the next theme works out

As I understand it creativity/terrain focus will be the main criteria for judging here? And being Xenos or otherwise is just an extension of that (something that hasn't really been done too much).

I may have to make a chaos gun emplacement though, I have the gun from that Cobra Maggot still lying around and it is a big one in 28mm.

This sounds good but I'm feeling close to being burned out hobby wise atm, without more of a break I'll be sitting this one out ... or secretly making something in the background.

I may well place one toe in the waters of the next round to test the temperature.. That is my non-committal way of saying I'm in (maybe...)

If this can be imperial, then I'm in, but as I don't have a xeno army, I'd like to keep myself building in a direction of accomplishing something that I can use over and over. Will look forward to the new thread starting.

Yeah it can be anything you want, imperial or xenos, I just think it will be great to see some original Alien terrain, but of course the choice is yours .

It wont be much longer now until I'm ready to open the thread, just have a few more things to finalize.

I've made emplacements in the past (not very good mind you).



I've had a few ideas on weapon emplacements just whilst writing this message and as a free idea for anyone after reading through about an ork one and seeing an image of a star trek game on steam, how about an ejected Star Trek Enterprise warp core sticking out of a planet with an ork standing on it bringing down a hammer on it, good orky way of setting off an explosion. Anyway I'm not going to make that just thought I'd throw it out there.

but it's a bit soon for me to commit anything.
