We can see this in his costume design, which is all black until the end in which we can see a white panel folded out as he talks with Anakin as he dies.

I don't think he did kill them, but he could have easily done so. As for the uniform, I think the black clothing Luke wore in RotJ was supposed to be the traditional Jedi uniform. It was only later that TPM retconned Tatooine desert farmers' garb into the jedi robes.

Today is May the 4th, officially recognized as a celebration of Star Wars and all things from the galaxy far, far away.
It’s also a great day for LucasFilm and Disney to announce some upcoming goodies- like the news that there will be a series of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker tie-in novels being released that lead up to Episode IX’s release this December.
The official announcement from Star Wars.com includes 22 new books (ranging from novels, visual dictionaries, sticker books, and various reader-level offerings):
A galaxy of stories leading to the final film in the Skywalkwer saga is on the way.
In celebration of Star Wars Day, StarWars.com is thrilled to reveal “Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” a series of books and comics connected to the highly-anticipated movie.
“The Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker publishing program is our biggest and boldest film tie-in program yet,” Michael Siglain, Lucasfilm’s creative director of publishing, tells StarWars.com. “We’ve got exceptionally talented authors, artists, and publishers creating content for fans of all ages.
“While these titles will include some hints and Easter eggs for the new film, the majority of these titles will feature all-new stories set following the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Our ‘Journey to’ books and comics will star Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, and, of course, Leia, Chewie, the droids, and the First Order.
“Here, you’ll get a glimpse at both the state of the galaxy and some of the ongoing battles between the Resistance and the First Order.
“As fans prepare for The Rise of Skywalker and the epic conclusion to the Skywalker saga, these stories are not to be missed.”
Pre-orders for the line launch early next week. Until then, check out covers, descriptions, and release dates for every title below — and happy Star Wars Day!

Ongoing battles eh? Those smuggling compartments in the Falcon must be TARDIS-like if the ~30 battered leftovers that comprise The Resistance at the end of TLJ can pull whole armies and fleets out of them.

Its sad to know that Peter Mayhew has now left us. I can't think of any other character in Star Wars as likeable as Chewie and Peter seemed a nice chap. If memory serves, he also played as the live action stand-in for Minaton in Sinbad & The Eye of the Tiger. To quote Gene Hackman in Young Frankenstein...
"...you must have been the tallest one in your class!"
