I saw this was getting an anime, and just nope. All the nope. You can't make a sequel series, get us all hopeful, and then drop a bus on us like that!
It wasn't a bus he dropped on us
Don't remind me damn it!
I read all the way through Suzuka! You just don't pull that gak and still call yourself human XD

Have a few now finished shows to watch, but my friend had other plans when he heard I hadn't watched Gunbuster yet. So I did that.
And I found a bootleg (didn't know until after I bought it) copy of Record of Lodoss War, a legit copy of the 90s Berserk "Box of War" collection, and Jin-Roh special collection, so I'll probably start digging into those.

DR:80+S++G+M+B+I+Pwmhd11#++D++A++++/sWD-R++++T(S)DM+ Ask me about Brushfire or Endless: Fantasy Tactics
Just binged Flip Flappers. Taken together like that it was better than I was expecting. Struggling to name my show of the season as my overall impression was it was a weak lineup, but if forced to pick I would say "March Comes In Like a Lion". I know "Yuri!!! On Ice" seems to be the critics' favorite and agree that it is wonderfully animated, but really not big on ice skating or Yaoi.

Most interesting take on a "trapped in a fantasy MMORPG" style story since .Hack.
Agreed about it being an interesting take, but the show was not my cup of tea as I am an unabashed fan of high level heroics. I am not really interested in seeing the main protagonists struggle with stereotypical low level antagonists in a high fantasy setting. For me high fantasy is about telling fantastical tales of epic proportions.

March Comes In Like a Lion and WWW.Working!! were my favourites of this season. The first in particular really manages to hit hard from time to time with just the right amount of feels. As for WWW.Working!!.. I just love the characters.
Weakest this season for me, going by shows I watched from start to end, has got to be Izetta, which just rushed through things in the end and yes of course, magical not-nazi-germany of course has to create magical nukes and magical V1 rockets. And then there's that post-credits scene..
Re: Grimgar.. I think part of the reason I liked it was because they're all such pathetic scrubs. I still hope that the ginger dies though, I hate that sort of character. Also it took forever for the show to pick up the pace somewhat, shame really, as the last two episodes had some really nice things going on.
Izetta was a disappointment, and Occultic nine was nauseating to watch. Its as if they chose some film student for the director, and he tried making the show "art" by suddenly jerking perspective around every 3 seconds and making the VAs speaking at a 100 words a second.

I sort of want a Log Horizon 3. It's story was getting really good, and I know there are more books of it.

Izetta started at good and with the animation style I was hopeful, but as mentioned previously it rushed the ending, a bad ending at that. The post credit scene was further depressing.
Also agree with Occultic nine just being awful. I tried hard to watch it, but just couldn't.
Just watched Episode SP of Fate/Grand Order. Bit of a mess to be honest, but optimistic given the track record to date. Liked the new Caster and demi-servant.

Anime same face and all, but was the new Caster one of the old Lancers? His appearance reminded me of the guy from the first (I think?) Fate/Stay and then he commented on wanting to be a Lancer next time as well.

He is Ch Chulainn (Ireland's Child of Light) who was Lancer in Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Unlimited Blade Works.
It doesn't get brought up in the Anime's but many of the Heroic Spirits can be summoned as different classes, not just one. For example Arturia Pendragon (who is almost always depicted as a Saber Class) could be summoned at a Caster or a Rider. I think the remastered edition of Fate/Stay Night from a few years ago (the game not the anime) suggested Saber would be completely overpowered and broken if summoned as Caster because she'd still have Excalibur and a hell of a lot more mana to throw around with it.

I thought Unlimited Blade had a different Lancer than Stay Night? Or maybe I'm just misremembering it because like every non-Saber servant was different.
Oh, I guess speaking of classes, do we know what class the shield lady is? Is that one the mysteries of the series or was that known by the end?

The guy calls her a Demi-Servant so I'm not sure she fits into the Stay Night class system.
The Lancer from Stay Night and Unlimited Blade Works are the same (there was a different Lancer in Fate/Zero though I think the two characters look almost identical).

God, I loved that show. I just got finished re watching it, and am bummed there doesn't seem to be anything more coming. The last episode was definitely 'we have to wrap it up, but here's a plot hook just in case' type of episode, though. I mean, I got et it, it's a well trodden genre since the success of other more popular shows, but it's my favourite. (Maybe it's also partly because I'm a guild master, with a core group of friends that have raided everything we can in WoW)

Depressing? I thought
Spoiler:
Izetta had died, so that ending was slightly better than her being dead. Imagine falling from the height she would have fallen would've at least to her in a wheel chair!
Though it was definitely rushed. They went for a bigger story and hit the wall, which is a shame.

I also thought it was a cop out. Instead of leaving it as a tragic and noble sacrifice, they tried making it "happier" by letting her live and crippling her, even though she should not have survived.
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure being at ground zero of a magical nuke several hundred feet over the ocean is pretty fatal.
Also, how did that not-Nazi scientist survive? What, did the pilot just blind him and say "well, you're a despicable, traitorous donkey-cave, but I guess I'll let you go because reasons"
Spoiler:
Izetta was like a rollercoaster. It started good, then it became a bit crap when she soloed an army (twice), then it got good again when they revealed that she does have weaknesses and Elstadt had play smart, then it began to plumet when they pulled the witch witch out of their arses, and started introducing limitless magic, magictech and making the villains so cartoonishly evil its painful. Yes, we got it, they are not-nazis, but would it be possible for not-hitler to stop twirling his moustache? And what do you mean he commited suicide? bs. He did not give the impression of someone who would have committed suicide and being broken that easily. The final confrontation should have been with not-hitler getting into a magitech battlesuit. It would have been ludicrous as what we got, but at least the main villain got to go out properly
Likewise, I would have made it so that rather that the white witch gets resurrected, not-Hitler is revealed to be her bastard son born from the prince, who used his magic build an Empire and jump into new bodies / shapeshift, waiting for a good moment to strike at his mother's betrayers and wreak revenge on the world that killed her. Done, Elstadt betrayal thing without deus ex machina magical nazi cloning science. It would also develop and address not-Hitler's interest in magic; he was looking for someone like him and his mother

A second cour for Izetta woulda been nice. A chance for Atlanta to properly invade and some more background for the Germanian characters, and sure, I'd be down for a tragic ending. It'd fit the story rather well.
Has anyone given Akiba's Trip a look yet? I'm wary but also bored since the new season isn't in full swing yet (he says as a stack of nine manga await him thanks to a B&N sale.)

Tried watching the first episode since as mentioned nothing better to do since new season hasn't spun up and I already sped through Fate/Grand Order. Bailed about halfway as animation was pedestrian and the story.....well lets just say they tried....
Come on 2nd season of konosuba!
