Well I have completely run out of space in my games workshop carrying case for more miniatures. So I thought I'd upgrade. The intended point of this topic is just to look at the carrying cases out there.
I'll start off by saying this. I am not happy with the capacity or quality of the GW cases and am sure there must be a better alternative. I have (thanks to the advertisement area at the top tight of your screen which may or may not be showing this as we speak) noticed a company called battle foam and was wondering what people think about them. The case will need large amounts of room for troops and vehicles.
this is what I have so any transport would need to be able to cope with than and have space free for the addition of a land raider or 2, drop pods, more troops and more standard tanks.
HQ:
lord in terminator armour, with storm bolter and frost blade/power weapon
lord or guard with runic armour, wolf claw and storm bolter
a rune priest
possible but not certain about the following
some orrigional space hulk termies including 2 librarians that I could probably use as runic but they aren't big enough for termie armour. the standard termies probably not going to be used as anything
I also have a few power weapon troops that I could probably use as extra priests.
I am also converting a model for Logan. I also have a forge world ven dred in construction for use as Bjorn.
Elites:
I have 5 termies with hammers and shields, 3 with lightning claw and shield and one with assault cannon and shield.
I have 12 marines armed with power weapons/plasma pistols or both I can use as a cheap wolf guard squad
I also have a dreadnought from the standard kit with interchangable arms.
And last I have a squad of 5 scouts with 1 Heavy Bolter and 3 bolters (sergent has pistol and sword)
Troops
28 blood claws including 2 power weapons and I appear to have 2 built torsos where the backpacks, arms and heads seem to have disappeared
23 grey hunters with 1 plasma and 2 flamers
Fast Attack
5 sky claws one with power fist
Heavy support
1 predator with twin-linked las and 2 heavy bolters
1 vindicator with dozer
5 long fangs with 2 heavy bolters and 3 missiles and a squad with any choice from his upgrade list due to excess power weapons and plasma pistols.
Transport
1 rhino
Super Heavy
1 Baneblade
So, any ideas anyone?

Battle Foam are brilliant, I haven't bought anything from them but they have some great offers on regarding cases, from small to large models, you may even make custom trays.

I have one of these things. It's a great case.
You'll get everything in there, with the possible exception of your Baneblade.

@ Azezel: I will have a more detailed look after I finish my last exam on Tuesday before I have some drink in celebration.
@ Tyranid horde and Lexx: Yeah I have had a look round their site a few times and there is some amazing versatility in their cases for different loadouts. What they are missing, however, is something to do an auto-layout of trays that you would need to transport an army which would make it much easier to work out what you needed from them
Well I'm going to have a look at C++ over the summer...

I use Sabol Army Transport bags and foam. It's pluck-foam so you can customize it yourself, and you can fit a hell of a lot in one bag. I have about 2100 points of Orks in one of the standard bags. It's cheaper than most other foams as well. You can hold more with a Battlefoam bag of the same size (since they custom-fit the foam to optimize space) but you can't beat the pricing.

I swear by Battle Foam up, down, left, right, and two times on Sunday. I bought my bag from them and they were available to help me with everything i needed to get into the bag. Plus everyone in there knows the games, so you day say specific models to anyone there and they'll know what your talking about.

@ brother srm: pluck-foam's major flaw, it's to easy to pluck it up
@Cevyr: so you're saying if you tell them what you have they will pretty much work out what you need?

a cheap way to carry infantry sized models is an Egg Carton.
you can get 2 Space marines or 1 terminator sized model per Egg hole. if you get the 18 egg carton then its more models.
this is what i did before i purchased a carrying case or 2.

I've got one of the big GW ones at the moment but it just isn't up to the job. It is already full and I still want to expand so it isn't practical for me especially seeing as I am having to carry a baneblade in a shoebox as it is

For the most part I found that they were willing to work with me to get what I wanted into the bag. WHen I was talking to them they were going more towards their custom tray maker. When I got home and played around with it it was essentially what they were going to do for me only I had to set it up myself.
