Here comes my first participation to your forum.
I am pleased to show you my Space Marines.
Instead of using a classical army scheme, I'd rather create my own, I called them Desert Marines (yeah, it was a easy one).
I wanted to give them a tough look, so, armors are scratched, burnt, bumped ...

No more blah blah ...

Full squad :

Details from few members :

The sergeant can be equiped by plasma or bolter pistol, it works with a couple of tiny but strong magnet. We can see the connexion between arm and hand in this picture :

The same method had been used for the special weapon man, that can be equiped with Flame thrower, plasma rifle, melta gun (hope this is the good translation of french term 'fuseur') or bolter.

I did the same with a jungle camo scheme when I got my first ever predator and tactical squad back during the stone age. I heated up the blade of my modelling knife and made little butter holes, or scrapes, etc, then I actually held a cigarette lighter to the side of the predator. I wanted them to look RUGGED! I ended up regretting this later when I started my more 'proper' chapter and needed more nice meticulous figures, but those guys are still around and could pass as 'vet' or something. The predator however, will never heal, I burned it to give it texture and warp the 'wetal' plastic sides a bit. Messing up your figs is a hugely fun (and possible disasterous) project but I loved it. I dig the approach you are taking. Go go go!

That looks really nice. I like the break from bright, obvious colors. I was told that marines used to wear camo-colored power armor, instead of only the bright yellows, blues, and reds of marines nowadays.

My only complaint is that the vents on the power packs shouldn't be the same glowey blue as the plasma guns. Plasma weapons can "get hot", but marines shouldn't be glowing hot just by running their power armor.

Oh, and mould lines

More Shadeyer (quite strange word for a frenchman ) ? yeah why not. In fact I made few motorbike from the same scheme, and I though that is had overdone the weathering. And as I am a slow painter, and because a lots of models are waiting for my brush, I tried to moderate my weathering effect to reduce the painting time. But I keep your remark for the next ones.

I really didn't want a Bright color, happy to see it suits mmany of you.
About the Plasma and power pack color, I was a bit worried when I had to choose how to do it ...
I chose to make all vents from the powerpack like they evacuate energy from the shield generation. And I didn't wanted to add another color to my scheme, to keep a sober (is it the good term in english ?) impression.

I chose to use a limited palette of color to keep a 'beast of war' look.

But, in the future, I may test different way of rendering these exhaust vents. Any suggestions ?

Oh, and mould lines

Yeah this is my lazy frenchman touch Really, I though I removed them before painting, and I didn't have the mood to remove them after starting paint job. it's a shame, I know ...

I like the feel of them, but I agree that they could use a bit more shading, perhaps by a Devlan Mud wash or the like. You should keep your colors as close to what you have is you can, the separate armor plates just need to be delineated a bit. As you have it now, the armor just kind of flows into itself. Makes the bodies look more like a series of blobs than an articulated suit of rigid plates.

remember that power packs don't vets shields. Instead they are a portable power generator that creates electricity to power the armor (hence the name). As such, what they're likely venting is the same stuff your automobile vents. As such, I'd just paint them black, or black with a quick drybrushing or boltgun metal.

Actually they don't create electricity to power the armour. They're actually small pieces of painted plastic.

Sorry about the poor French, my mother's Swiss so I really ought to be better but my written French is atrocious! Hopefully you get what I'm saying though
It annoys me when people pick up on details like that. To me it just looks like the back packs and the gun are running on the same type of energy.

OK I get your point, I didn't understand the last remark on this, but it is clear now... ok, I will try to make the limits between armor piece more visible. Thanks

Yeah perhaps ... I prefer giving them a bit more color, I tried a sober look, but on a sandy table, my marines didn't catch the eyes.

No pb with your french, it is a correct and understandable sentence (and with better french level than lots of french net users ).
Details on stuff make your own model unique. If Ailaros prefer sober color is not a pb, I understand his opinion, and his (mmm. I don't remember the english term, I think it is Case) cases are correct.
But I really think I will leave them blue

But Thanks for all your feedbacks !
