Probably work

Okay... hear me out. Before the purists attack me for wanting to combine anything CSM with Space Marines, this is for Relictors. They've been dancing the fine edge between falling to Chaos and simply using Chaos against itself for some time now. I want to add a squad of Sternguard to my army, however, I don't want the standard issue ones because I feel they don't represent the extreme that the Relictors go to. What exactly I'm toying around with is using mostly the CSM armor and weapons (with the obvious stuff like the horns filed off) to give them more of a unique look. I figure it could represent the more elite acquiring suits of CSM armor and weapons and using them against the forces of Chaos, both because it would help them disguise themselves, and because (they might) perceive it as having the power of Chaos behind it. I already have some CSM weapons intermittently thrown in with my tac and assault squads, which came out looking pretty cool in a very subtle way, and I want to expand on the theme.

What do you think? Too much? Not enough? Also, as a side note, fluff about Relictors is woefully sparse. Does anyone know of a good source other than the paragraph that's in the Codex?

Do it, sounds awesome and that's pretty much the point of the Relictors.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

Yeah, sounds good. I think that the weapons could, instead of/as well as having the special issue ammo, you could give them slightly more daemonic/chaosy boltguns - maybe use some noise marine bitz on the guns?

Okay, I've been on a bit of a hiatus 2011-14

Sounds great. I used the old Legion of the Damned models and bits to make my Sternies for Crimson Fists. I imagine that they'd look even better as Relictors.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

So long as you are using 1 Codex combining SM and CSM parts is just dandy; also it tends to look really damn good.

Back in 3rd I had a mess of SW 13th Company they were supposed to be mixed kits and they looked awesome(especially with Codex grey Main armor and splashes of various Legion Colors for the Chaos bitz as 13th Company did not bother to repaint their stolen repairs)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.
