Howdy,

I had a question that I could not seem to find an answer for in the BRB...

I had a game the other day against IG. He was doing what IG does best and spamming chimeras. However, when he was shooting, he would shoot the chimeras at 1 unit, and the guys inside at a different unit. Is this legal? I always thought the transport counted as part of the unit while embarked... thanks!

You're mistaken. The transport remains a separate unit from the passengers, and thus the two units can fire independently.

You are indeed mistaken.

They NEVER are the same unit. They always are two different units.

Also, if a squad fires from a Fire Point is the vehicle considered Open-Topped until their next shoothing phase? One guy thats been playing for awhile declared that it isn't, but it got me wondering. This guy has been wrong before, but being new I try to not impede on his all-mighty-wisdom LOL... So how does this scenario end up?

I'm both instinctive and emotional. I value my own instincts and desires, and either ignore or crush anything that stands in my way; planning and foresight are unnecessary. At best, I'm determined and fierce; at worst, I'm headstrong and infantile.

I have know idea where you got that idea. I've never seen anyone play it that way, but tell the truth i can't cite the rulebook (not on me) and i don't troll YMDC enough to have enough instant credibility, but i'm going to go with no, it doesn't become open topped.

Old edition rule.

He probably got it from an old BRB or the Daemonhunter Codex. I don't know if it's in the Witch Hunters book..

I actually have a full body tattoo, but it's of an invisibility cloak, so you can't see it.

That's how it worked in 4th edition, but the rule no longer exists in 5th.

I think one unit in Codex: Daemonhunters still does this (Rhino I think).

Bookwrack -nope, didnt work that way in 4th ed either.

Some old codexes have a rule that models in 4+ or less armour that shoot from a fire point make te vehicle open topped. DH/WH i believe have these - but it isnt a general rule.

It was a general rule. BRB p 64.

Still happens in the Daemonhunter rulebook.

NO! that should definitely NOT be a rule!!!! Thats just gross! I don't want some slaanesh warrior charging me, Screaming a BloodLust filled roar, with his Jolly Roger Flopping around!!!! Thats just gross! I mean.....if it was a female warrior and she wasn't that bad looking, I think I could capture a few prisoners. My 'Interrogation' skill will be most useful then - Commissar NIkev

Page 30, Transports. The Box at the top of the page just above the Chimera rules.

Well I guess he was right then, because he plays Sisters of Battle... You would think when a new edition comes out that everything would be updated... not just some things, poor armies like: Dark Eldar, Sisters of Battle, Grey Knights etc...
