Is it fluffy for a Vampire Counts army under the influence of Chaos to exist? Are vampires susceptible?

I see the VCs get a unit called Heinrich Kemmler who's pledged himself to the gods of Chaos?

I think it would be doable to have a vampire counts army being manipulated by chaos. Just not in the more direct manner of corruption as say it is with mortals. I believe also that Kemmler encountered an artifact that let him make a deal with tzeentch in return for restoring his past powers. It looks like they came to some sort of agreement.

Does nobody know of Vampires that literally directly worship a Chaos God and thus march under their colours?

I'm pretty sure they can't be corrupted since they have no souls

though manipulated?, sure whynot!

My thoughts on this are similar. No soul for chaos gods to nom on/corrupt. Though as shown they can be useful tools to further their own ends.

anything filled with dark magic can be corrupted. souls are not needed. Chaos can corrupt the very air and ground, it can give life to inanimate objects. Hell if nagash can bent the counts to his will i'm sure chaos can as well.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

There is quite an interesting section in FFG's Nights Dark Masters for the Warhammer FRP - it talks about how Chaos and Vampires are natural opponents - with the undying and unchanging Vampires being an anthama to many followers of Chaos. Each would likely exploit the other if it served their interests. I think its unlikely but not impossible for a Vampire to join the Dark Powers out of frustration, desperation or sheer boredom. Most Vampires however, don't want their "walking happy meals" to be transformed into chaos spawn and would prefer them to be controlled or "farmed" under their own control.

Heinrich Kemmlar is a Necromancer not a Vampire - much more likely - similarily Necrachs have much less need for mortals blood, are totally insane and so more likely to serve Chaos? Blood Dragons have been known to head into the Chaos Wastes in search of a true challenge.

During the Storm of Chaos campaign my VC army was Anti-Chaos, including a High Elf Captain in the game and fluff for it but it helped being Lahamirian. They and the Carnsteins are more than happy to fight Chaos /Skaven with or without Mortal help - for their own reasons of course.

Couldn't a Chaos God like Tzeentch imbue a Vampire with more powers?

I think they cannot be affected as part of the process of becoming a vampire is binding your soul into your body, taking it out of reach of the chaos gods. I believe this means they cannot be affected by any warp effects.

I dunno how magic works in WHFB... but that kind of interpretation in 40k would imply that they'd be immune to psychic effects.

Also, I think in either the background for the VC book, or the 7th Edition book, it describes a part where the Counts of Sylvania rose up an army to fight a Chaos incursion
