Can a CSM Lord with a Mark (say, Nurgle) Join a Unit with a different Mark (Say Berzerkers)? I think no, but I couldn't find any rule saying so in my friend's Codex, and I may be remembering the previous edition. Then again, GW is notorious for their badly laid out books. Thanks.

While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

There is no restriction on joining units based on what Marks you have. You are perfectly free to have a NUrgle lords with a Unit of Bezerkers if you want.

Chaos Daemons have this restriction, not Chaos Space Marines.

No. It applies to all independent characters, and Skulltaker is a herald anyway.

No, it does not. Reread the rules - skulltaker is NOT a herald of Khorne and therefroe CAN join any unit he likes, apart from Furies.

Page 27, Daemonic Rivalry - ICs can't join units belonging to another god.

Skulltaker is on page 80 under the heading "Daemonic Heralds" and is explicitly given as an example of a herald special character.

Not really - that isnt a rule, for a start.

If anyone tried to tell me Skulltaker wasn't aligned with Khorne I would probably pack up my stuff and find someone else to play against.

I think Nosferatu1001 may be getting confused with the WHFB FAQ, in which the four named daemonic "heralds" aren't subject to the rules preventing heralds from joining various units.

Skulltaker has Fury of Khorne - aka Khorne. Hellblade - only Khorne models have this, Blessing of the Blood God. Furious Charge - what daemon god gives this? oh Khorne. May have the following Juggernaut or Chariot of Khorne. thats alot of Khorne stuff he can have for not being Khorne. All of which is exclusive to Khorne. Hellblade and Blessing of the Blood God are rules under GIFTS OF KHORNE.

Yet there is no rule stating he is a Khornate Herald.

Nitros - you do realise this is a forum and not real life, dont you? Please never confuse, as you have done, the two.

I would think that because he can take a Juggernaut of Khorne or a Chariot of Khorne makes him a Khorne Herald as per the Steeds rule. "A Khorne Herald's modified profile will then be as follows:" also "In rare occasions, a Herald of Khorne who has distinguished himself... A Khorne Herald's Modified profile will then be as follows:"

Again, nothing says what God he Follows.

How that is determined is never explained to us.

Except for the entire page describing how he follows Khorne?

Isn't that fluff?

Or is there actually a rule? Don't have the book to hand atm.

There is a load of background that shows he follows Khorne - weirdly enough - but no actual Rule stating so.

Fluff /= rules, otherwise my daemon princes are actually good, as opposed to "meh"

this

don't names count as part of the Rules on MANY occasions and are used ALL THE TIME to determine who is affected by particular rules and etcetera? are you saying this time the Title means nothing? (using the name "Skulltaker" is of course just an abbrieviation)

No. It's either fluff or a rule. It cannot be both.

Isnt there in fact do determinaton anywhere of what is either fluff or rules. So just like we cant know which god Skulltaker belongs to, if we follow your separation of fluff/rules then we have no way of knowing what the rules actually are? So the game break. Lets all go home.

taking up the mission

I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

The thing is, the Skulltaker problem was answered in fantasy in a GW FAQ that he DOESNT count as a herald of khorne and he could join any unit he wanted to. I showed the FAQ to my friends and they B**ched for hours-but were forced to let me put him in my unit of plaguebearers that was also holding a herald of nurgle on palanquin which dropped all opponents to striking last in base contact. Skulltaker reaped LARGE amounts of skulls...including a 430 pt Valkia model causing my friend to quit the game quite suddenly. But it is valid in fantasy and might be in 40K, but I haven't seen any FAQ on it

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
