I don't want my ungor raiders to carry bows so I'm trying to give them slings that count as shortbows (being creatures of Chaos they shoot whatever stones they can scavenge on site and don't carry ammunition, hence they don't get bonus shots like proper slingers would).

Does this work? I think a proper sling should be a lot longer and the stone should be smaller (and hence the whole shape flatter), but compared to the skaven slingers (the only GW slingers I know of) mine are already quite long and I'm worried about them interfering if I should have to rank them up for some reason (like if they get charged).

If this basic shape works I plan on making a green stuff pocket to hold the stone and thickening the straps to hide the rod that's fixing it to the ungor's hand, and perhaps having some ends of the straps hanging out the other side of the hand.

Thoughts?

It looks quite good. Very fitting for an Ungor.

You´re probably right about the length of the sling + size of stone, but Warhammer is heroic scale, so if it looks good, I think you´ll be fine.

I honestly thought this was a Skaven sling at first.

As long as you run it by your oppenent it would be fine.
It looks to cool to resist anyway, so go for it, much more beastman than a bow, feels a bit more on sight and less preperation than required for a bow

Yeah, im gonna agree with the above posts, its a very nice conversion. Only gripe is where would the ungors find all the perfectly rounded stones?

Seriously, 'tis a brilliant prototype, and fits beastmen very well.

Oh, and maybe use the occasional skull for ammunition. It would look pretty damn cool

Thanks all!

ghosty - That's a good idea! I just found on the gor sprue a skull about the right size. We'll see if I can't get it to work. The hard part is getting it into the pocket of the sling and still being visible as a skull.

Better not let the Gors see though. They'd be at the waste of a good trophy!

Working at my usual snail's pace, I've finally finished 5. Hopefully I can arrange for a full 10 sometime before the next edition.
