PVA is water soluble isn't it?

I would imagine that whatever you put the models in to strip the paint will also remove the basing.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yeah soak 'em in some brown dettol overnight and rub them with a toothbrush and they will be fine.

PVA is similar to Acrylic paint in that it is only water soluble until it dries. It then undergoes a chemical reaction that makes it non soluble.

You could try something like Simple Green, or the UK equivalent. (I think Castrol make some purple stuff that is a degreaser that does the same job)

Failing that just trying to scrape it of with a sharpish implement might be your only option.

Theoretically, perhaps... but I've had PVA go gluggy again after getting wet.

Soak them in some water for a while, and the basing material should just peel straight off.

If it's a cheaper quality PVA, you can quite possibly do that anyway even without the soaking.

If he's used superglue to attach the basing material, you might be in for a bit more bother, though. At that point, you would be better off just ripping the bases off and buying new ones.

I've had PVA completely dissolve in warm water after it has dried.

Can't say the same for acrylic (model) paints. Acrylic artists paint, yes.

If you're planning on redoing the bases, then why does it matter if the surface gets damaged?

I think I would've gotten my razor and sliced the models from the base and then refitted them on new bases.

Or, if you don't care about buildup, you could try just slopping on more PVA glue and redo the bases.

Ok
As static grass is basically just plastic you might be able heat up a piece of wire (held in a pair of pliers) & melt the grass - it should shrink & burn up a little. Any remainder should be brittle enough to brush off with an old tooth brush.

You'll be better off with new bases, then. You're not going to get superglue off cleanly without marking the bases at all.

Actually I think super glue should come off pretty easy. Simple green for a day or two, it should come right off. Superglue and water don't mix.

I don't think so. o-o Unlike PVA glue, super glue isn't water based. Super glue should come free with nail polish remover (NON-ACETONE). :3

Yeah, I haven't noticed Simple Green having any effect on superglue so far. The brake fluid I used to use would make superglue go brittle and snap easily, and that doesn't help a lot for getting basing material off.

Nail polish remover could be worth a try, so long as you keep in mind that even some non-acetone varieties will eat plastic.

Well it turns out they werent superglued on (whod have thought) and the grass was just dipped into wet paint!!!
I put them in dettol for a day or two and came to get off the paint (Which worked) and all i had was to scrape off this gelatinous mess.
Does anyone have any tips on brushing off the gloop
