dear dakka, i would like it if the user who posts an image up gets a PM of some sort if someone comments on a photo of his.

Interesting you should bring this up. I glance at the gallery every now and then, and I am usually shocked to see someone has commented on a picture I posted.

If not too much work, this would be a very useful tool.

I am a little torn. On the one hand, it might be quite good and would certainly stop people missing image comments.

On the other hand, there are a lot of boring comments like 'wow' and 'cool' which would just use up people's time. The most recent image comments on your images are automatically put on your gallery home page so you can just check there once in a while to see all of them. The gallery comments stuff is a little bit bolted on so could use a bigger revision and forum integration than simply PMs.

At the moment I lean away from implementing it, but would not be mind hearing more ideas.
