Not bad. I'd just add another 250 points though. The piranha with all those upgrades should go. 115 points is a lot.

GDs blow. SDs are far superior. If the Bodyguard dies then the HQ is left with two Toughness 3 drones, weakening the unit's Majority Toughness, making it easier to wound. I know you can put a LasCan or ML wound on the GD and not care, but a SD *might* just make the Save. This whole unit is too pricey, IMHO. Lose the BSFs (used like in 1 outta 18 of your games) and I'd separate the BodyGuard into a single unit or another HQ.

Mixed weps? Okay, not the usual, but Pinning happens so seldomly with so many units having good leadership or Fearless. Plus, your list lacks MarkerLights needed to make Pinning happen. Go all Pulse Rifles for more firepower.

Couple things:
1. I used to run the FBs with my stealths, but found either the FB not pulling its weight vs Infantry or the BCs quiet will the FB nails a tank. Go all BCs.
2. Take a look at what 'vre does for your WS & Init stat increase. You'll see it has no bearing on h2h vs MEqs and means little vs GEqs. H2h means they're dead anyway. Just use 'team leader' and save points.

You have *one* MarkerDrone in the Army. Not enough to justify 2 Seekers.

tuathal1 wrote:Hammerhead- Rail gun, burst cannons, Black sun filter, decoy launchers, disruption pod, flechette discharger, multi-tracker, sensor spines
Decoy Launchers were good in 4e. Don't bother in 5e.

tuathal1 wrote:Broadside- Adv. Stabilisation system
By trimming a lot of the BSFs, Decoy Launchers, Seekers, Sensor Spines, buy this guy a Team Leader Upgrade, Bk and 2 Shield Drones.

Overall, this could be a good 1k list that you're pushing to a weak 1245 with unwieldy upgrades. The enemy's 1250 point army facing it will have far more fire power, models, punch, etc.

Trim to 1k. Lose the Stealths as you near the limit.

Piranhas: DisPods, Flechettes and TAs.
HHs: (in order of importance) DisPods, MTs, Target Locks. Sometimes Flechettes. SMS or BCs.

BSFs: Almost never throughout the whole army. I know they're a pittance of points, but really

Your next purchases: 4 more Crisis Suits and kroot or FWs.

Your commander and bodyguard are so overloaded on upgrades that it's really gonna hurt if they die, and yet two suits really can't put out that much firepower. I would cut EVERYTHING on the suits except for your weapons, multitrackers, a targetting array for the bodyguard, and a couple of drone, whether they be Gun or Shield (You could go either way. Gun are cheaper, but Shield would have Toughness 4 and an Invul save. Either way, you get ablative wounds. Shield Generators are overpriced and if you fail from the shots you're using it for, you'll die in one hit anyway. Bad.)

If you're not giving the Fire Warriors a Devilfish and plan to use them in a gunlines, I'd drop the Pulse Carbines. Pinning happens so rarely with all the Good LEaderships everywhere, and you don't have the markerlights to make it worthwhile. Take the 30" Rapid Fire guns. You won't regret it.

Stealth squad is definitely overloaded. The 'Vre is generally useless as it only grants bonuses in Hand-to-Hand, where Stealths NEVER want to be. Take a team leader, and if you want to do markerlights, buy markerlights. You can load this squad up with 3 or 4 marker drones and use it as a mobile markerlight generator (you're relentless with your Jetpack). That's expensive. Alternately, drop all the upgrades and the Fusion Blaster (you REALLY don't want to get that close to something with Stealths) and just try and grow the squad size. Volume of fire.

Your piranha: Overpriced, too many upgrades, can only put out 5 S5 shots a turn at BS3. Not good. In another army 115 Points would have you with a Vindicator or summat for that many points. Fusion Blaster or Burst Cannon is arguable here, but the only upgrade you REALLY need is a disruption pod (mandantory for all Tau Vehicles, IMO). Next up would be a targeting array. Then finally if you really have points to spare take the flechettes. Decoy Launchers do nothing useful for you in 5th edition as Brotherekose mentioned.

Hammerhead: If we're being efficient here, drop the Blacksun filter, sensor spines, and decoy launchers. You'll never really get any use out of those, and they're a waste of points. The Flechettes are arguable, because they're awesome if you plan on getting assaulted, useless otherwise.

Broadside: Listen to the above poster. Upgrade to Team leader, grab a pair of Shield Drones. They get his 2+ armor save, and he can just sit in cover and shoot away in relative safety.

So your list is decent, but needs trimming. Too many upgrades that do nothing for you. I'd build towards a 1k list like the above poster said just for kicks and to get you focusing on points efficiency. Build up from there, with more new units.

Agreed on the next purchases. More suits are ALWAYS good, and you want more troop choices. Kroot for static counterassault or outflanking distraction, Fire Warriors for gunlines or to run around in Devilfish.

Kroot Kroot Kroot
Kroot are a bit better with close combat having a 4 WS, They are very effective in large groups ( and they are cheaper, and fun to paint!) while the fire warriors stand back and shoot.
Kroot do not have a armor save, so they automatically take wound, but if you have enough of them up front they can take out a lot of enemies.
You can also get Kroot hounds and Kroot riders
