Well I have been on this forum for a while now. I started a WIP log for my Imperial Guard which I am still working on but currently dont have any inspiration for.

About 7 weeks ago I became very ill and ended up in hospital. After finally getting out last week, I was told I would be having aproximately a further 12 weeks off work. This being the case, I have decided I need something major to occupy all that free time.

I have previously bought a Saim Hann army, including a multitude of Jet Bikes for my Wild Rider Host and initially kicked it off with the purchase of a super sexy Forgeworld Avatar with Spear. Having spent many months drooling over the avatar, I have finally decided after getting out of hospital it was time I bit the bullet and purchased some really sexy Forgeworld models for my force.

I ordered a Revenant Titan with pulsars and a Scorpion Type II Eldar Super Heavy Grav Tank. These have just arrivedtoday and ofc before the postman was back up the garden path, I had the box open and was making sure everything was there, intact and had fingers crossed that there was no casting mishaps!

My plan with this thread is to initially show the build/painting of both models as I have had difficulty finding similar posts that help the newbie to large Forgeworld models. Once I am done with these it will reside as my army building/painting log where I will post the progress of my Eldar force.

I will start off with showing you the two kits laid out to allow me too check they where all there:

Scorpion Type II Eldar Super Heavy Grav Tank

Eldar Revenant Titan with pulsars

The only warpage I got with the two kits was he pulsars for the revenant titan and to be honest its fairly minimal so a soak in warm water or failing that a hair dryer and a careful bend should sort them right up. However I will post the before and after and describe my method so people know the process.

NEXT STEP:

Washing, cleaning, cutting and warpage fixing.

So I started on the Scorpion and proceded to experience the job of prepping, trimming and filing the resin parts. Why oh why didnt anyone tell me how mind numbing it is?

It took me 3 hours in all to do all the prep, but that also included washing all the resin parts in soapy water to remove any leftover release agent from the casting. As I prohgressed I got faster at it, so the revenant shouldnt take me as long, though I know there is some tricky bits to work on in it.

I did a test fit of the main parts once everything was prepped and even if I do say so myself, it looks fantastic.

Gonna get someone to go into my local town and pick me up some epoxy resin tomorrow as I dont think Superglue is going to do the trick on this.

That's a nice Grav Tank. Is resin really that hard to work with? I have never worked with resin.

I wouldnt say its hard, it just takes some work and a little time to get used to. Getting a good glue helps as well.

That's why I bought one of those scout tanks before I put together my other purchases. It helped me get used to resin before I worked on my IG Hydra.

So I managed to get some Epoxy Resin today. I managed to talk my dad into popping to Halford's for me to pick some up as still unable to venture out myself.

With this in hand I started to put together the parts I wanted together before I am ready to paint.

First off I needed to Pulsars in the turret (the turret will not be glued on to aid in transportation and painting etc).

Once this was done I worked on building the main body including the rear engines, the sensor array and the vector nozzles. If i'm honest the vector nozzles where not as staight forward as I had planned. They took a lot longer too dry than the rest, so needed to be held longer, however they are now stuck solid!

The next step after this was to make sure the side fins where glued to their mounts but not to the main body as this would aid in painting. Then once this was done, the model was sat together to make sure everything looked fine.

At this point I am now ready for the undercoat and once that dries I will be ready to begin with the airbrush applying the Saim Hann colour scheme.

NEXT STEP: Paint

Bah stupid rain. Cant undercoat today so will build my Space Wolves Venerable instead.

Hopefully tomorrow will be dry and I can get this beast of a model painted!

Huh, I always thought the scorpion would have more parts. Still looks bloody awesome though. Good luck on your painting!

One minor point, those gant pulse lasers look slightly non-parallel - you might need to do something to get them slightly straighter.

Have fun with the project!

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Well the rain and wind refuses to stop but I did manage to sneak an undercoat in a brief stop.

I also just managed to dig out my forgeworld Avatar. Now I have found this I am considering starting on it with the painting to get myself usedto painting with resin models.

On a side note, I may get distracted for a few days as my new Warhammer book turned up today and im allready drooling over the nice contents.
