I put about 30 hours into this bad boy and I know it's not perfect but I wanted to get some feedback from the forums.
I did the Valkyrie and Land Raider conversion similar to a few I have seen posted online.

I know a couple of obvious problems: I want to do the cockpit differently next time, it's a little small. I want to move the engine turbines around and I definitely need to work on the seams by the cockpit and engines. However, or a first attempt I think it's pretty good?

I want to put it up on E-bay to finance my next version. I already have some great ideas. How much do you think I could get for it? (Looking for experienced sellers)

Lastly: I know there are no grapple arms for a dread. Here's the deal: It's the friggin 41st millennium. I bet they will have figured magnetic grapples or force fields to hold that sort of thing so yea.

Agreed that the cockpit is a little small. I think it would have looked better, a little further down, on top of the ramp. That being said, I think the conversion looks great and you added a super paint job. I've been paint a lot of red over the last few months and yours turned out very nicely.

It's hard to take pictures that are true to the actual color. It's a lot smoother in person than it looks on these pics.

I think you retained the land raider cues (excellent Idea), but too many of the tank trimmings of the land raider itself. However, to be honest, removing and replacing a lot of that crap would have taken a lot more than 30 hours.

Considering the thing has the troop capacity of a Land Raider, I like that it takes some design cues from the LR. Remember, the Adeptas Mechanicus is not very creative, when they make things, they work with what they know, kind of like why so many SM vehicles are Rhino-based.

I say, BRAVO!!!

Very clean conversion and paintjob. Agreed that the cockpit could stand to be a bit bigger and a bit lower. Still kicks the crap out of most of the conversions I've seen, so far (seriously... I've seen a handful of cardboard fins and some extra guns haphazardly glued on to a Rhino, then doused in red spray paint).

Where are you thinking of moving the turbines? I feel like they'd make more sense mounted under the wings, but the hurricane bolters won't allow that, nor will the slight angle of the wings, themselves...

Oh well. I still give it two big thumbs up!

I'd love to see it, but all I see are Red X's of Doom.

...As far as how I did it. I basically bought a land raider crusader pack and a Valkyrie pack, pulled all the pieces off of the sprues and sanded them down.
Then I put all the crap into a pile and started building up what I thought would be a decent aircraft one piece at a time. I used the pictures cited below as references, but I think that mine took on it's own life as soon as I started gluing plastic together.

I used this guys work as references:

It's an excellent paint job. And I really like the use of the LR upper deck and engine. Gives it a really nice bulk and a better Space Marine "feel" than I've been able to manage.
But...
[] The fins and engines are all wrong. They look too much like random placement. Mostly because the two fins behind the engines make no sense at all and seem just stuck on. Neither one has has a control surface facing aft, one is attached to the boom and the other sticks straight up![/ ] I agree with you that the cockpit needs to look more an integral part of the model. Fool about with some plasti-card and see if you can fair it in a bit just so it looks smoother. I'd fill in the gaps between the sides of the Land Raider hull. Otherwise it looks too unfinished. Greenstuff is probably easiest.

Flip the barrels on the Assault Cannons so that the bar is on the bottom, it's 30 seconds with a saw that will pay off big.

Also, lose the Smoke Launchers. The Stormraven, sadly, doesn't have them.

And, yes. I am a complete airplane geek.

For the love of the Emperor people, it's a TURRET. There is no such thing as a turrent!
