I have a nob squad that is all on the bases that come with the kit. The one issue I am having is that I want to include a limited editon ork model that came on a 40mm base. Would it be better in everyones opinion to put him on a smaller base like the rest of the nobs, or should I leave him on the 40mm? It just feels odd to have a random model on a different base to me.

Thanks much

IMO if you're running him with and as a Nob, Nob base size

You should always put the model on the base it is provided with ,like it says in the rule book, to avoid any problems with pickey opponents, but in friendly games there should be no problem.

Edit: Man, I type slow!

See the problem with the approach here is you'll have 9 - 25mm bases and 1 - 40mm. Now I promise you (imo) more people would have an actual issue with that difference than a limited editon on a small base that matches it's squad.

I see no problem - I have a standard bearer who has a 40mm base for extra support (no more falling down)

It's all about wether he'd fit o.k. on a 25 mm base.

Add in:

Chris, why is this a problem? Really? I mean, sure it can be a problem for ranges but... I can have a squad of infantry effectively moving around with an HQ on a bike. it'd be much bigger but noone would be allowed to have a problem, and if anyone did, it'd be a WTF TFG situation.

It's really a problem because a nob squad is intended to all have the same size base - if you attach a WB on a bike - no worries there his base is intended to be that size.

Not having a uniforbase size for a unit causes issues with movement possibilites, disembarktion and assaults/pile-in/defenders react - and one can't prevent these from happening. It's not the be all or end all, but it's enough for me to know it's better to have ones whole squad on the same base size - not mixed and matched - you know?

I would leave him on the 40mm base. I wish all the Nobz came on 40mm bases. The just seem so big for a 25mm base.

Leave it on the 40mm base, I don't think it would be a problem in friendly games, inless you play a complete jerkwad. Now if you were to play it in a tournament, that may be a different issue. But just in case always ask your opponent / event organizers if they mind when you play that model.

It extends your charge range out of vehicles for one.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Make a cutout in the 40mm base and insert a 25mm base in the hole. Then stick the model to the 25mm base and add magnets.

Thus you can play him on a 40mm or 25mm base, depending on what you want to do with him, the game setting, etc.

The RAW is clear. The model itself was provided on a 40mm base. It's my opinion that no tournament or opponent should have a problem with this. Not to mention the model in question looks farking stupid on a 25mm base.

Agreed. I have a unit of flashgitz I've been modeling on for a few years and wanted better scenic bases. I have them mounted on 40mm bases and they look much better. If a problem ever arises in a game, and someone can show me how the base size game me an advantage, I have no problem moving models back a 1/4" or whatever my opponent thinks is fair. Besides assulting from vehicles, there isn't a lot of advantage you can get by going to 40mm vs 25mm.
