Hi all.

For a friend I'm looking for some C&C about a Vulkan list he prepared:


HQ - Vulkan. 190
EL - 7x Assault Terminator - 4 TH/SS - 4 LC/LC - LRC+MM+Extra Armor. 555
EL - Dreadnought - Plasma Cannon - Storm Bolter on the DCCW. 115
TR - 10x Tactical Marines - MM+F - RHINO+Extra Armor. 245
TR - 10x Tactical Marines - MM+F - RHINO+Extra Armor. 245
TR - 5x Scout - 5x Camo Cloacks - 4x Sniper - 1x ML. 100
HV - Thunderfire Cannon. 100
HV - Devastator sq. - 4x ML - RAZORBACK+TL Lascannon. 225
HV - Devastator sq. - 4x ML - RAZORBACK+TL Lascannon. 225
Tot. 2000



Any C&C?

I don't really see any synergy.

Here is my 1850 list. It is my tried and true list that I have a lot of success with.

Multi melta and flamer in one tac squad.....doable, but like pdwag said, no synergy.

If you want to do MM and flamer, try having one squad as a flamer/ML squad, and one as a Melta/Multi-Melta squad.

As far as I can see this list doesn't really benefit from having Vulkan in it.
You'd be better off taking Pedro or Lysander to bolster your Terminators.

I have one squad of MM/FL, but the others are Melta/RL. the MM/FL squad has a combimelta. If you want to do a tank rush then ditch the Devs for some preds or vindis

This list doesn't really take advantage of Vulkan, and utilizes some of the most worthless units in the Marine dex, ie: scouts and devastators.

A Vulkan list should have lots of melta weapons and flamers, maybe something like:

HQ:

Vulkan: 190

Librarian w Avenger and Null Zone: 100

Elites:

5x Assault Termies in LRC:450

Fast Attack:

3x MM/HF Land Speeders: 210

3x MM/HF Land Speeders: 210

2x Attack Bikes w/ Multimeltas: 100

Troops

10x Tactical Marines, Multimelta, meltagun, combimelta or combiflamer and fist on Sarge, in a Rhino: 245

10x Tactical Marines, Multimelta, meltagun, combimelta or combiflamer and fist on Sarge, in a Rhino: 245

10x Tactical Marines, Multimelta, meltagun, combimelta or combiflamer and fist on Sarge, in a Rhino: 245

Total: 1995


You've got lots of bolters and heavy flamer action for horde, a ton of multimeltas for antitank on nice, fast platforms. You've got a little mini deathstar that will probably attract a ton of fire.

This isn't the most competitive Vulkan list you could come up with but it gives you an idea of how your army should maximize the twin-linkage that Vulkan gives you.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

I'm translating all your advices to my friend that doesn't speak/read English, he's askin' me if isn't sage to drop the combi-weapons on the Tactical Serg. to take Extra Armor and a MM on the Crusader and with the last 10 points a Hunter Killer Missile somewhere or something..

Extra Armour on Rhinos. will change a crew stunned to a crew shaken..
on a vulkan list you REALLY need to be close to the enemy so yes that's a good idea.

Dropping Combi=Weapons on Sergeants....if the combi-weapon matches the special weapon (combi-melta) the answer is NO. it's an extra shot to take out a dreadnought/tank/monstrous creature without the expense of a power fist.

DROP the Dreadnought. you don't need it. Especially as it's not using Multi-melta OR Flamer

Lost in the warp while searching for a new codex

I would reconsider having three close ranged speeders in a squad. Even str 4 weapons will be a serious threath to them when they are in a squadron.

Vulkan list should not skip long range AT.

Even with Vulkan MM in the tactical squads are a bad idea. Atleast never take more than one.

Loosing the bikes and one squad of Speeders to get some long range AT is not a bad idea imo.

The Land Raider MUST have a MM. you will never find a better platform for it.

Extra armour on a rhino is never a good idea. Unless you are playing SoB or something similar and are paying 5pts for it. 45% pts increase in order to translate a possible stunned to shaken is not a good investment.

Now dozer blades on Rhinos is a different story if your dice like to roll 1's like mine!
