What are some good post-apoc books/movies/games?
(BTW The Road was awesome and actually stayed relatively true to the book.)

Fallout 3 is always a good one.
Fallen Earth is another I've heard about but not played, got some good reviews iirc.
And for the religous bent, there is Hellgate:London, which got some good reviews, despite it repititve nature.
For fiction, there is an entire section at my Borders pretty much devoted to Post-Apocalyptic stuff.
So just look around, you'll be asurprised.
If you want, it's not quite exactly apocalypse per se, but the Gears of War book and comics do a pretty good job of filling that niche.

Fallout 1 2 and tactics are superior IMO but that's just me I guess...
Madmax 1 and 2 are fun.

Get game of the year Fallout 3 though, adds stuff on and makes the end better. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also I guess get Fallout New Vegas when that comes out as well.

Unless you disliked 3, because it's looking it's more of an expansion then a proper new game...

If your not of those "I can't play anything without up to date graphics" kind of people, I'd strongly advice trying them out, they have superior atmosphere and IMO are much better fleshed out.
And you can shoot kids, in the nads, or eyes, or plant bombs on them... or whatever you like.

Fallout New Vegas looks more like an expansion for Fallout 3. I was hoping for something better. But Fallout 3 is one of the few games that never really gets old.

From waht i've seen of some of the gameplay and sroty, it is a very different animal then Fallout 3.
I feel the need to ask though to get a better diea. Which kind of apocalypse do you want?
Total extinction of the human race due to the final battle between god and evil apocalypse?
Near extinction of the world by nuclear/biological war?
Zombie apocalypse?

I'm not buying NV until I see it at 75% off on the Steam Store.
Reading gaming sites though, considering how many people seem to be pissed at Bethesda for their half-arsed attempt at putting out another game (big suprise), I probably won't be waiting that long.
I swear though, if NV is as craptastically bugged out as FO3 was on release, I'm lodging a complaint and getting my cash back from the purchase.

Apocalyptic/post-Apocalyptic fiction is a massive genre.
A Canticle For Leibowitz (Walter M. Miller Jr.)
On The Beach (Nevil Shute)
Earth Abides (George R. Stewart)
The Day Of The Triffids (John Wyndham)
The Kraken Wakes (John Wyndham)
Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep (Philip K Dick)
There are some collections of short stories that might be of interest:
Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse
Beyond Armageddon
There is also a meta-literature examining the various imagined apocalypses.
Dead Cities and Other Tales (Mike Davis)

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" I remember as being pretty good.
"Battlefield Earth" by L. Ron Hubbard (Yes, the scientologist guy) is probably one of the very best examples of post-apoc Earth rebuilding itself, although there are aliens.
"Lucifer's Hammer" by Larry Niven discusses the fall of civilization during a big asteroid strike and the immediate after effects - I highly recommend.
The Bolo! series (I like the short story collects best) by Keith Laumer (Later authored mainly by David Weber but also a host of others) has a lot of post-apoc stuff, although it's typically centered around a giant, sentient tank that's been mothballed and is reactivated to battle a new thread (This is probably my favorite series in life).
Plenty of others if I think about them long enough, but that's enough reading for a couple of months - Battlefield Earth weighs in at well over 1k pages.

blade runner is more cyberpunk then post apoc.
I loved Canticle for Liebowitz and The Road. Fallout 1 is the best of the series although I would say that the entire Fallout series is pretty outstanding.
An interesting take on how humanity ends is Arthur C. Clark's "Childhood's End" Not Post - Apocalyptic per se, but certainly an entertaining read.

Without Warning 'America Is Gone' by John Birmingham is a brillian read, released in the last couple years it covers what would happen if a few days before the start of Gulf War 2 an energy bubble wiped out the continental US, most of Canada, 95% Mexico and most of Cuba.
Anarchy worlwide, economies crash and the biggest military in the world with no country (Excepting Alaska, hawaii and Seattle) to fight for.

This.
I never would ahve imagined that route, and the way he ties the entire thing together to sorta reverse genetic memory if you will, is simply amazing.
Did he wirte a sequel to it, cause the copy I read had something in the back page about it. But it was an old copy so the pages were literally falling apart.

Fallen Earth was one of those things where I read the reviews, watched footage, read all the fluff and got real excited only to encounter something that was about as graphically advanced as Wurm Online with stale gameplay that just made me want to cry...

QFT.
A really good post-apocalyptic book is Earth Abides. A bit boring at the beggining but if you stay with it, you'll really love it.
BTW, New Vegas is not going to be an expansion. It is a stand alone product with no characters from Fallout 3 appearing.

The Last Book In The Universe is childish, but still a fun way to look at it.
For the most part I stay away from most apocalyptic books so I can't help you out there.
When it comes to movies though, I don't classify too many as "post-apocalypse" I just do "zombie", "horror", etc. Real simple stuff.

I think it got pretty mediocre reviews, and some people don't like it, but personally I really enjoyed "The Postman," with Kevin Costner. It's based on a book too, but I haven't read it. If you're really into post-apocalyptic stuff, you might like it.

really good apocalyptic games is Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. It's best played with another person then by yourself, as your allies' AI is really crappy.

A postapocalyptic book where humanity is actually recovering would be World War Z. I personally enjoy it quite a bit, and find the style its written in to be a nice break from most other forms of literature.
For games, I'd recommend the Command and Conquer (TIBERIUM) series. Tiberium Sun and Tiberium Wars really capture that 'humanity on the edge of extinction' idea, and aren't half bad games to boot.
