Continuing with my project to create a successor for each Codex, it's time for the long overdue Blood Angels successor - The Revenants. (Renamed following additional research - see post further down )

This is just a concept workup model, so C&C are definately welcome (remember how much it helped the evolution of the Ice Panther concept ?). At the moment, the only significant change planned will be to lighten the shade of grey slightly, but I'm open to ideas so Open Fire fellow dakkaites

Is it just the image? Or did you really paint that tiny breach action on the bolter purple?
I'm not %100 in the backpack being two tone can we get an image from the rear?
Otherwise this is pretty solid. It definatly looks like it could be a Space Marine Chapter.
Either the 3rd edition C: SM or the 3rd edition rule book had a color scheme for the Revenants I can't remember it too close off hand and that book isn't with me ATM but did you use any of this for inspiration?

ComputerGeek01 is more then just a name

It's not the image, I put a small highlight along the bottom edge of the ejection port (though it's really Midnight blue - damn camera !)

Looking at it, I'm not too taken with the backpack either. Any suggestions ? (That's the point of the thread after all !).

As for the sources, I did a search online but couldn't find any reference to the name, the closest I could find was the Revilers - my source was here :
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Space_Marine_Chapters#R

The overall look was intended to take inspiration from the Blood Angels, including the markings, but adapt it to a two-tone scheme in line with the other two Chapters I've done so far in this project (Ice Panthers and Ice Wolves, they're in the gallery so throw in a vote !)

Thanks for the input - any more ideas/niggles just throw them on in

Bugger ! Just found the Angels Revenant Chapter ComputerGeek01 mentioned - Looks like I'm gonna have to think up a new name !

Ah ! Got it, it's a bit melodramatic, but it'll do - The Blood Wraiths.

Sanguinary Guard for the Blood Wraiths. In keeping with Codex Blood Angels, I chose to keep the familiar gold armour, but added grey banding to the plainer shoulderpads to tie in with the chapter colours.

Great work on those Sanguinary Guard, especially with the lightning effects on the power weapons. Regarding the Tactical Marines, it's a great paintwork, although I think you should add a greater proportion of red to the scheme, as this would help link it more to the Blood Angels.

Thanks, Valkyrie - they did turn out a little better than I expected. Re you suggestion about the Tac marine - any thoughts on where/how to expand the proportion of red ?

I would say apply red to the feet and the whole of the arms.

Here you go posting more cool stuff that is not pie related.
I am the only one holding the pie front all of the heretics are rolling me over I need space marine back up.
I would think a quartered paint scheme would work well here but that is just my opinion.

Fear not, brother, I spread the word of Pie on other fronts

I was trying to keep the layout of the colour blocks similar across the entire Astartes Telariss project, but now you mention it Quartering would like pretty good

Damn ! Gonna have to create a fifth Telariss Chapter now

Chapters so far : Ice Panthers, Ice Wolves, Blood Wraiths, Jade Falcons and now another to work on - is this project ever gonna end ? I'm gonna have to make the Telar System a bit bigger !

Does it count as Necro if it's your own thread ?

Anyhow, I've finally got a chance to post the final livery of the Blood Wraiths. Hat-tip to Valkyrie for his suggestion of expanding the red areas - it looks much better, thanks dude

So, the pics...

Tactical troops in the new livery (the original concept is lurking in the back row !)

Assault Infantry

And, because they are Blood Angels successors...

...the obligatory Death Company puts in an appearance !

(Well, I had to use the spare parts somewhere !)

So, thoughts ? Comments ? Come on, dakka, you know you want to...

Oh, as usual the pics are in the gallery so get in there and vote !

Interesting red&gray scheme.
Maybe some darker pics? Looks a bit bestial brown to me as is.

But like the deathco.
( should do something against my preference of black )
