It just struck me, and this might apply to other races too, i'm not sure, but we can quite happily equip our marines or terminators with two HTH weapons, but (beyond having a bolt pistol and bolter, which they can't use both of in a turn anyway) we can't equip them with two shooting weapons...why?

Seems to me that a terminator squad all packing two heavy flamers apiece would be all kinds of awesome. (Not to mention a Squat tooled up with twin assault cannons - but that's another story.)

Anyone know of any exceptions to this? Would it actually be of any use in game?

Who wants to know?

If you did, it would merely be listed as twin-linked, same as crisis suits

I think the concept is that wielding two close-combat weapons is an actual technique. however, wielding two firearms/ballistic weapons requires a lot more concentration than most people, even the genetically-enhanced, possess.

That being said, there is at least one 40K character who does this: Cypher, the Fallen Angel. When he was featured in the old Chaos codex, he was able to shoot a bolt pistol and a plasma pistol together.

having two guns to shoot simultaneously would be an ability only a very high-powered character should have.

May the spirit of Chow-Yun Fat be with you. There's a reason the Seraphim are the best-looking Jump Infantry in the game.

Incidentally does anyone else have fond memories of the Astartes Jump Troops in Rogue Trader having two pistols?

It'd be cool if Assault Marines had the option of swapping out their Chainswords in favour of Bolt Pistols at +1 point and gaining Twin-Linked.

So...would these 2 Bolt Pistols count as 2 CCW's? I mean, if they did, then it's an upgrade, and a good one at that for just 1 point.

Of course they count as two Close Combat Weapons; Pistols are Close Combat Weapons. Since it's an upgrade from a Bolt Pistol and Chainsword, which are already two Close Combat Weapons, the +1pt covers the Twin-Linked part.

IIRC, Death Guards could technically do it with Bolters, as they used to have True Grit, which allowed them to carry Bolters in one hand. As for concentration:

I've fired two guns at the same time before, and actually hit what I was "Aiming" (<- very loose definition). It was more of a quantity over quality of the shots. Mind you, I had to use the wall I was behind to stabilize them, but still....

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

I think it's because GW sensed people would complain about the 'cheasiness' in this.

NO! that should definitely NOT be a rule!!!! Thats just gross! I don't want some slaanesh warrior charging me, Screaming a BloodLust filled roar, with his Jolly Roger Flopping around!!!! Thats just gross! I mean.....if it was a female warrior and she wasn't that bad looking, I think I could capture a few prisoners. My 'Interrogation' skill will be most useful then - Commissar NIkev

You can only fire one weapon per figure per turn, so it's pointless anyway.

Well yeah, but that's just what i'm talking about - why? If they were the same weapon then it would just count as twin linked, as pointed out. But why not different weapons? What's unbelievable about a terminator carrying two combi-weapons?

Having two of the same weapon does *not* automatically make them twin linked - that is a codex by codex rule.

It is siply an in game balancing act. IF everyone and their dog could fire 2+ weapons then MCs would lose a big advantage they have, and marines firing 3 bolt rounds each at <12"....ouch.

However if you look at WG they CAN carry more than one weapon, they get 2 combi (whatevers) each if you swap out both weapons.
