Well, with all the talk of the Chaos army being split into multiple codices (Daemons not counting), I don't really want to have to buy 3 books, collect figures from all of them, and then get told I can't play in a tourney with them. So, as of now, I am going to start collecting my appocolypse army (30,000 points of Guard, mostly artillery) and wait with Chaos until I see what is going to happen with them. I have seen this song and dance before, what with WHFB, and don't want to.... repeat past mistakes.

I really like Chaos Space Marines, don't get me wrong, and I might even decide to stay with them, but still want to have a "Fallback" army that is less likely to split into three on me. These are the ones I am considering (not really taking in competativeness, just funness):

Orks: Who doesn't like Orkses? I have been looking at making a Savage Ork themed army, with lots of boyz, Wierdboyz, few vehicles, and red warpainted Orks (would that give them an extra inch movement? )

Tyranids: Bug eyed monstrous creatures, and a battlefield littered with multi limbed bugs are always cool. Probably just a standard Nid list here.

Necrons: Unfeeling machines that would be relatively cheaper to collect than the other two choices. Only problem is that is what their missing, Choices. Not a whole lot you can do with Crons, other than a cool paintjob.

Where are these rumors . . . that sounds very interesting. i'd love stronger themes in the chaos armies.

Anyway. out of the three armies you are considering i'd choose Orks. they have alot of different styles of play that are legitimate winning armies. Dashofpepper had a thread going where he described the playstyles really well . . . here it is http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/269441.page

Nids look great, and i used to play them, i just got disenchanted with them after the new codex. I like the idea of masses of genestealers with broodlords, but i feel like the carnifex was left behind in this dex . . . sure you can squadron them, which is awesome, but there are better options.

Necrons, currently a very bland army imho but if you like the idea, and don't mind the lack of variation of theme and an outdated rule that breaks the whole army, they are kindof fun. personally i'd wait for the rumored new codex to start up these guys (which would most likely come out before the rumored new chaos split)

I would say Orks.
BTW, those aren't rumors, they're just speculation.

There are several threads about these rumors, though I admit that I mislabeled them as such. However, with the split in WHFB, better to be safe than sorry, right?

Thanks, I should have made a poll. And thanks for pointing that out, I kinda jump the gun occassionally, though I still kinda want to be prepared for the worst.

Although just speculation I really doubt Chaos will be split up into legion codexes. Thats what you are asserting correct?

And I really doubt Lost and the damned will ever be addressed again.

These would be cool, but unlikely things to happen.

But yes orks is the best choice IMO of your list.

Basically, yes, that is what I am asserting. While I also doubt it would happen, my motto is prepare for the worst, so all your surprises are good ones. Contigency plans, Contingency plans for contingency plans, that whole thing.
