When I use a Failsafe Detonator on a dreadnought does it go down to half damage because of the hole not being over the dreadnought?

If Bruce Lee is advocate and does kick someone between the legs in a fight, why would I be to good to do it?

My fighting style: Hit em hard, hit em fast, hit em where it hurts, hit em where they can't see you or hit back.

It's funny how everyone wants their opponent list to be fun to play against and yet their own playlists are often tough as nails and impossible to modify.-Q'iq'el on ATT

Yes.

No.

Maybe.

It's an Old Codex and it isn't written with 5th edition in mind, so it is unclear. Clear it up pre game.

...I don't see why not. It seems to be a blast weapon...uses a blast template.

The reason he says damage is halved is because the center hole is not over his dreadnought (which counts as a vehicle) and I guess the brb says that if the hole isn't over the vehicle the strength is halved...

For "blast" and "template" weapons which the failsafe detonator isn't. It is simply a str 8 AP - hit.

He says no because its anything under a large "blast" "template"...I agree with you, I just need to convince him...

Oh come on, the failsafe detonator is one of the least reliable, gimmicky things in a codex full of unreliable gimmicks. The blast template defines its radius, it's not an ordinance weapon or something.

Tell your friend that he's being a jerk.

Hey now, what's with all the hate? I actually just gave it to him at full strength because I was unsure of the ruling. However, I would be curious to see what other people thought. I agree with Gwar! that it's a little hazy. It seems to be following the same wording as most of the blast weapons pre-5th edition, so I tend to think that it should count as a blast or template weapon.

In regards to landraiders:

The Failsafe Is not a Blast weapon. It is a Piece of wargear that uses a Blast Marker to define it's area of effect. If it were a Blast weapon it would scatter and count as a Shooting attack.
