I grew up with their music (my dad listens to them too) and have seen them live twice now.

Just wondering how many of you English(or American, see if I care) speaking people, like this band since their one of the most internationally successful non-English bands.

Also, for those who listen to it, do you even understand what their singing?

So yea... Favourite song? Album? etc. etc.

Favourite Album: Herzeleid
Favourite song(s): Wilder wein / Halleluja

Last two albums were garbage though :(

Sehnsucht is my favorite album, and from that Engel takes the lead as my favorite song, I just fall into a trance when that women sings. I know it contrasts the rest of the album and most of the other music but there is never a time when I wouldn't want to hear her soft voice along side the heavy rock music. Mutter is a close second favorite CD Links-2-3-4 and Feuer frei! are great songs to listen to when wargaming.

As far as understanding what they are saying it didn't really matter to me at first, I thought of the voice as just another instrument but over time when ever they come up you get some "intellectual" who wants to prove how smart they are by translating the music for me (weither I want them to or not) and I've eventually come to understand the basics of it.

All I'll say is that some of their lyrics are pretty horrific

The song ramstein (which is about an actual air show accident if you didn't know) is a good example

They're named after that accident, aren't they?

Yep. They even went around as Rammstein-flugschau for a while (Rammstein Airshow).

I'm a fan, one of my favorite bands. I know generally what each song is about, but in a lot of cases, it's better not to know.

Mein Teil, for example.

I enjoy them for their high camp factor and digs at whatever bothers them. Plus their concerts always fun shows filled with penis cannon shooting pyrotechnics.

I live in Canada and I love Rammstein. I have all their albums and I listen to them all the time.
My favorite album is "Liebe ist fur alle da" and my favourite song is probably Ich Tu Dir Weh.
I have no idea what they are saying but it is probably better that way.

Over here in Canada, they are pretty popular with metal heads, well at least in the area I live(it is a big country afterall). For understanding the lyrics, I can in some songs, but I usually have to have listen quite a few times, as my German is not very good(I'm only fluent in English, but I can understand a little French, German, and even less for other languages).

Thing is the English language lyrics in the fold outs aren't the literal translation. Literally translated the songs make no sense so the little fold outs "fudge" the translation a little.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

The music is catchy enough, but I lost interest when a bunch of non-German speaking teenagers thought to correct me on their lyrics.

'Course not. Laibach are Hrvatskis, not Germans. Laibach are cool though.

Quite like the Sehnsucht album - and I do understand enough german to understand what they are singing. I've seen them live once (an impressive show).

I still listen to their stuff, but I also still listen to Skinny Puppy, Ministry and Laibach as well.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Best gig I ever went too. Amazing stuff. If you have never been, get tickets if the opportunity ever pops up!

You can also try bands such as Wumpskut, Unit187, Ministry, Velvet Acid Christ, Front Line Assembly, Ministry and maybe some Razed in Black and Skinny Puppy.
Edit: Coptic Rain, Chemlab too.

Most are rather Heavy Industrial, some a bit more Electronic\Heavy.

Favorite track of Rammstein: "Du Riechst So Gut '98 (RMX By Sascha Konietzko-KMFDM)"
I have "Mutter", "Sehnsucht" and "Sonne".

Big fan of KMFDM as well so the mix is bliss.

A few others: "Absurd Minds", "Neuroticfish"(project rather than band),"Cruxshadows" is from USA but mainly tours in Germany check out the "Täuschung" album, for true Industrial "Einstürzende Neubauten" I like and "Corvus Corax" you gaming/roll-playing fiends would like them for bar fight atmosphere music.

I seem to have a preference for German bands and really try not to read too much into the translation.
I think there was a song done by a German band that was shouting out a grocery shopping list and it sounded cool to us non-German folk.

Love the Queen "One Vision" remake from Laibach "Geburt Einer Nation", to the english ear you swear he is saying "Get me a light beer!!!!... A light beer for da World!!!". I love it so (yes, I know, not German).
