Good point about system requirements. My guess is that it is going to be a monster and many of us will be looking at new systems just to run this monstrosity.

MMOs are usually made to run on mid-level hardware fairly efficiently. WoW runs on just about anything if I recall correctly. If you've got something resembling a decent computer now, you should be able to run this game at medium settings in two years.

The game will be mediocre at best. I hope for otherwise but most game makers need money and investers see WOW and want a fast cash grab. They do not see the thousands of man hours, loads of loar writing and the fan base as the vehicles to make said cash grab. The same thing happened with WAR. EA got gready and tried to be everything for everyone. They failed to see that WOW gets away with it because 11 million people pay the bills so they can get away with shoveling garbage when they need to.

I really, really hope the game is made to fill the niche of several hundred thousand die hard fans of 40k and hope to grow from there. If they do than the game wil be sucseesful. If not it will die. Its that simple.

Perhaps if X-box/ playstation finally learns how to work out the mmo`s I might buy it, if they dont, I will pray that i will have an uber awesome computer then.

No need for an uber awesome computer... most MMOs tend towards broad system requirements to maximize their potential customer player base.

Honestly, if they get the fluff right, I'd be fine with WoW-40k Edition... there's a reason WoW is as successful as it is. I know all the cool kids are hating on WoW left and right, but I really enjoyed it when I was playing.

This might be the MMO to get me back on the pay-to-play hamster wheel.

omfg I am very mad that xbox 360 has only one mmorpg and of course this is only on pc same with dawn of war they wont make it on xbox.

And just an FYI you can make a super kick-ass computer that'll last you for only around $500... don't buy Alienware computers they're WAY overpriced

I doubt it would be worth paying monthly fees for like most mmos but its distributed by THQ so it can't be too bad.

Paying monthly isnt such a big deal if you enjoy the game. Cars, phones, computers etc all have extra ongoing costs. As long as that extra money go's to something like more content, bug fixes and extras.

Go out and pay $80 for a game that might give you 8 hours of play before you finish it. Then you go out and buy another? $15 a month isnt so bad.

Might have a go if there is a free trial though, just to see what it is like, though I don't really like MMO's all that much - they tend to rewad playing them exclusively to all else (such as going to work, having a life, etc), so if you are just dipping in, you rapidly fall behind and the experience ceases to be geared for you so much.

One problem: I thought the same about Wet and Bethesda. I think we all know how glad I was when a Wet demo came out...

Don't waste your time. This game is going to be another tank/nuke/heal, "point, click, autoattack, use special skill' MMO grind fest WoW wannabe.

Shame really, cause this particular franchise lends itself so well to a Planetside-style MMOFPS that it makes me cry a little at night to see the opportunity lost.

$15 a month is basically the cost of a movie.

Assuming that's high end graphics for the game, that's some pretty light in graphics requirements.

Next gen, and Alpha, so we have a few months to upgrades

Pre-alpha. The game is still two years from release to say the least. And frankly, those aren't very demanding graphics.

I recall hearing the games' engine is based on Vigils previous game Darksiders, if the graphics match up to that on an MMO I'd be surprised, but they do look a little better than most.

I'm going to reserve judgement on this game until I learn more, there's a chance it could be brilliant, but it will all come down to gameplay and content in the end, which is pretty much impossible to guess at this early before release.

Pre-Alpha/Alpha graphics always suck and look very very last gen. I did alpha and beta testing in WoW it got a LOT of polish towards the end of release.

WoW in no way sucked after release. If your Opinion is to dislike the game to you. However in the future use an IMO to mark what you mean.

WoW is the most successful MMO to date, it has appealed to a wider audience and maintained a larger fan base. It was a nicely polished game, that has set a standard for the MMOs that have followed it. The world is easy to Navigate, and it takes only a little time to understand the rules enough to enjoy playing. I have played a few MMOs in my time, and I in fact still play EVE online, however WoW was by far was the best in several areas: Look, Gameplay, Balance, Learning Curve, Ease of Use.

Opinion time: Sure Final Fantasy 11 was much much prettier.. but it took FOR-FETHING-EVER to get anywhere!!! I don't have time to play a game where I have to Travel for an Hour just to get my next quest. Star Wars Galaxies, was awesome and in one of my favorite worlds! But you got level capped in 3 months of play and the end game was like holding a tea-party with guns. Everquest SUCKED! Dark Age, had some great features, but only held my interest for a few Months. Planetside, WAY unbalanced. I could go on...

My point is, WoW may have sucked a bag of wet Tyranid bits, in your eyes since release, but market numbers and trends say otherwise. Hell WAR's UI was a rip-off of WoW's UI, not to mention every other game that has tapped into the UI to use. In fact even in the videos for this game, I SEE THAT same UI!

So IMO, WoW sucks now, I got all I could out of it, so I am gonna go fly my Spaceship around and go Pew Pew. But it in no way sucked at Release, or does it suck to the 2 million plus who still play it almost daily.

Stupid WoW ruined other MMO's with their success. No one wants to take a business risk and do something different, which is understandable.

Maybe the game isn't wow-like, but it certainly seems that way.

If there are healers and tanks, I won't even give it a shot.

Yeah it really is going to have to try to marry the idea of FPS to MMO, to even bring my interest in. Planetside did an Okay job Mechanics wise, just sucked at balance and gameplay, if they can use the planetsideish model it may have a chance.

Or better yet base the fps stuff off of high-end games of today like Modern Warfare 2. It will be interesting to see how they go, we need to see more gameplay on this though, or even some specs, just a teaser video of some last gen graphics isn't enough.
